Taliban delegation travels to Tehran focusing on Helmand – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news



A delegation from the Ministry of Water and Energy of the Taliban interim government in Afghanistan will travel to Tehran tomorrow, Wednesday, to discuss the Helmand water deal, Mehr news agency reported, quoting AVA news agency.

According to this news agency, the purpose of the delegation’s trip is to discuss the Iranian water contract and the allocation of Helmand water.

In this regard, Farooq Azam said that a delegation from the Ministry of Water will travel to Tehran to implement the text of the agreement signed between Iran and Afghanistan in 1351 on the water of the Helmand River.

Earlier, Afghan interim government officials said the issue of Iran’s rights had been resolved.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the interim Taliban government in Afghanistan, said the issue of tensions between Afghanistan and Iran had been resolved and that if the Afghan side had enough water, the Islamic Republic of Iran would benefit.

Inamullah Samangani, the deputy spokesman for the interim Taliban government in Afghanistan, also said that Kabul was fulfilling all its previous obligations with the Islamic Republic of Iran over water rights.

According to him, Afghanistan is also facing water shortages due to drought, and Iran’s water rights may be affected in this regard; But this is debatable.

Samangani also stressed that Kabul is ready to address Iran’s concerns in this regard through dialogue.

In this regard, Amir Khan Mottaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Taliban interim government in Afghanistan, in a conversation with the Iranian Foreign Minister, welcomed the sending of a specialized delegation to Kabul to study the issue of water rights.
