Taliban: The UN decision on the group’s seat is unfair



According to IRNA, Tass news agency wrote: Anna Kieran Instorm, Sweden’s permanent representative to the United Nations and head of the UN credentials committee, said that the decision on who will represent Afghanistan and Myanmar at the UN has been postponed. The next meeting to decide on this is not clear.

The Taliban representative wrote in a Twitter message: The UN credentials committee decided yesterday (Wednesday) to refuse to give Afghanistan a seat in the UN for the time being. This decision is not based on the rule of law and justice because they have deprived the people of Afghanistan of their rights.

The Taliban official expressed hope that the newly appointed representative of the new leadership in Afghanistan would be able to represent his country in the United Nations in the near future. He said that with this seat, this group can solve the problems of the Afghan people more effectively and have a positive interaction with the world.

On August 15, they seized Kabul without any resistance following the withdrawal of US forces. Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani claims to have fled the country to prevent bloodshed and its aftermath.

Taliban September 6 (September 15) The Taliban declared their complete victory in Afghanistan and on September 7 (September 16) formed an interim government that has not yet been recognized by any country.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that the Taliban’s desire for international recognition is the only lever that countries can use to pressure the group to form an inclusive government and respect the rights of women in Afghanistan in particular.
