Taliban: The United Nations should not use sanctions as a tool of pressure

According to IRNA’s TOLO News report, Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: If the travel of officials of the Islamic Emirate is banned, this will create a distance between Afghanistan and the world.
He further added: According to the Doha Agreement, all restrictions on the travel of officials of the Islamic Emirate should be removed.
Takkel pointed out: If sanctions are imposed on the travel of officials, instead of political dialogue and interaction, there will be distance, which should be avoided. The members of the Security Council should understand that there are some fanatic circles who want to create distance between Afghanistan and the world.
Two months ago, the United Nations Security Council canceled the travel exemption of Abdul Baqi Haqqani, Acting Minister of Higher Education, and Seyyed Ahmad Shahidkhel, Deputy Minister of Education of the Taliban government, and extended the travel exemption of thirteen other officials of the Islamic Emirate for two months.
International relations expert Vahad Fakiri told TOLOnews: “Zawahiri’s discovery in Kabul has really made people suffocate, and they have come to the conclusion that the Taliban’s commitments are not trusted, and the Taliban have broken their promises, and sanctions should be imposed on them.”
