Telephone conversation between Amir Abdullahian and his Omani counterpart on the eve of the visit of the Sultan of Oman to Tehran


According to the foreign policy group of Fars news agency, Hossein Amirabdollahian and Badr Albusaidi, the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman, had a telephone conversation today (Friday), the 5th of June, on the eve of the visit of the Sultan of Oman to Tehran.

In this telephone conversation, on the eve of the Sultan of Oman’s “Haitham bin Tariq” visit to Tehran, the parties discussed the planned content programs as well as the relations between the two countries.

According to Fars report, the Sultan of Oman is scheduled to come to Tehran on Sunday in response to the official invitation of Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi for a two-day visit. This is the first visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to the Islamic Republic of Iran after assuming this position. As Hossein Amirabdollahian had announced earlier, documents for this trip have been prepared and are supposed to be signed during the mentioned trip.

In a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart, Amir Abdollahian, while conveying the greetings of the president of our country, described the meeting and contacts between the leaders of the two countries as very important.

According to the announcement of the Sultanate of Oman, Shahab Bin Tariq Al Saeed, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, Khaled Bin Hilal Al Suaidi, Minister of the Sultanate, Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Numani, Minister of the Sultanate Office, Badr Bin Hamad Al Suaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Salem al-Habsi, Minister of Finance, Hamad bin Saeed Al-Awfi, Head of the Kingdom’s Special Office, Abdul Salam bin Muhammad Al-Murshidi, Head of the Investment Organization, Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yusuf, Minister of Industry and Trade, Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Mines. and “Abdullah bin Khamis al-Raisi” are accompanying the Sultan of Oman’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff on this trip.

According to Fars, the telephone conversation between the two foreign ministers took place today when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman announced that the country’s mediation between Belgium and Iran for the release of the detained citizens of the two countries was successful and the two freed persons will be transferred to Muscat today. Following this agreement, Asadollah Asadi, the Iranian diplomat detained in Brussels, will be exchanged with a Belgian prisoner named Olivier Vandecastel and will return to the country. Belgian media announced an hour ago that a Belgian plane had transferred Asadi to Oman.

In a tweet, Iran’s Foreign Minister also appreciated Oman’s positive efforts in this regard, pointing out that Asadullah Asadi is on his way back home.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his Omani counterpart also discussed bilateral relations and important regional and international cases over the phone on April 28, and Amir Abdullahian made a two-day trip to Muscat on May 5 and 6.
