Telephone conversation between Amir Abdullahian and Pakistani Foreign Minister about the situation in Afghanistan


According to Fars News Agency’s Foreign Policy Group, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, today (Monday).

In this telephone conversation, our Foreign Minister invited his Pakistani counterpart to attend a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries in Tehran.

According to Fars, a meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s six neighbors, plus Russia, is scheduled to take place next Wednesday (November 25) in Tehran.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister thanked for the invitation and stressed: “This meeting is a joint initiative of the two countries to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan and its holding is important for the people of this country.”

Expressing regret over the recent terrorist incidents in Afghanistan, which led to the killing of worshipers in the country, Amir Abdullahian condemned the terrorist act and stressed the need for all neighboring countries in Afghanistan and the world to condemn these two terrorist acts.

In a part of his remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country also mentioned the responsibility of the rulers of Afghanistan to ensure the security of the people of this country and to effectively counter the actions of terrorist groups.

The Pakistani foreign minister also said in a telephone interview that his country had condemned the terrorist acts in Afghanistan and expressed hope that terrorist groups would not be able to establish a foothold in Afghanistan through the actions of the Afghan rulers.

According to Fars, Amir Abdullahian also spoke by telephone today with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation about the situation in Afghanistan. (Read here)

In the telephone conversation, the Foreign Minister called for the condemnation of the recent terrorist acts of ISIL in Kunduz and Kandahar by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and thanked the Secretariat for its assistance in facilitating the reopening of the Iranian representation in Jeddah.
