The 2024 Specter x360 16-inch laptop is a great alternative to the controversial Dell XPS models

If you don’t like the dramatic changes in Dell’s XPS laptops this year, then the laptop might 2024 Specter x360 16 HP is attractive to you. This new model from HP has less changes in appearance, which probably looks more believable and traditional than the experimental new XPS design.

For this year’s CES, HP has updated both its 14-inch and 16-inch Specter x360 2-in-1 models to coincide with the release of Intel’s 14th generation processors. While the new 14-inch model has received significant facelifts, the 16-inch model is more or less identical to its 2023 counterpart, albeit with minor differences.

An easy way to tell the Specter x360 16 2023 and 2024 versions from the looks of the product is to look for the integrated MicroSD reader as HP has removed this feature in the latest model. Otherwise, the port options are the same in both products, albeit rearranged.

2024 Specter x360 16 laptop specifications

In terms of internal configuration, the 16-inch 2024 model has migrated from the Arc A370M graphics to the GeForce RTX 4050 version. The Arc mobile graphics series has not been able to find its place in the market at all, so switching to GeForce is an understandable move. Display options have also changed from standard 60Hz variable refresh rate to 120Hz. However, the native resolutions of the new display options have been reduced compared to the 2023 options, as shown in the table below.

However, compared to the big and surprising changes that have taken place in the 2024 Dell XPS lineup, the small and quiet changes to the Specter x360 series seem welcome. Many reviewers were unhappy with the design of last year’s XPS 13 Plus for a variety of reasons. And on the other hand, that this design completely replaces the design of the popular XPS 15, may not be very satisfying for fans who have been using this series of products for a long time. In contrast, prospective buyers of the 16-inch 2024 Specter x360 can expect to experience a level of comforting familiarity with the product as it bears some resemblance to its predecessor, the 2023.

The price of the new HP laptop

The Specter x360 16 2024 is available now at HP.com and Best Buy for $1,600 in black and blue. There’s no silver option for this product, unlike the new 14-inch Specter x360 series.
