WhatsApp has recently been equipped with the ability to buy and sell within the program, and online stores can operate on this platform, unlike Telegram.
Today, the Central Bank of Brazil issued a license for the Meta payment platform for small and medium businesses in the country. This platform is integrated with the messaging application of this holding, that is, WhatsApp, and the transfer of funds is done in a P2P manner. In this way, payment information is exchanged among users without the need for a central server.
Meta Company has considered Brazil as a main experimental space for commercial messaging and after continuous follow-up, it has succeeded in obtaining the license for this activity. It looks like Meta needs to focus more on this testing space, as the company’s core ad business has also stalled.
Brazilian WhatsApp users have been using the in-app buying and selling feature since 2021; But this new mechanism paves the way for sellers and traders to operate officially.
Guilherme Horn, director of WhatsApp for Latin America, said on his LinkedIn profile:
Soon WhatsApp users will be able to directly and in conversation with the seller, using MasterCard, Visa card and credit cards to buy their products and services.
Shortly after the Central Bank of Brazil gave the green light to Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced on his Instagram channel that “people can make small payments directly on WhatsApp”.
The in-app payment feature for purchasing products and services is a new WhatsApp initiative that has never been seen in the world of messengers. Thus, after a long time, WhatsApp has been equipped with a feature that even Telegram has not been able to implement; At least until today!
