In an article for the energy policy magazine of the Russian Ministry of Energy, Novak wrote: Documents have been sent for a tender for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Saudi Arabia.
Last October, Novak announced Rosatom’s participation in the tender to build the first nuclear power plant in Saudi Arabia; This country has considered the construction of a nuclear power plant with small or medium power.
Earlier, Novak mentioned that Russia has expertise in the construction of small reactors for floating and land-based nuclear power plants, and is ready to make relevant proposals to Saudi Arabia in this field if Riyadh is interested.
In 2017, Moscow and Riyadh signed an agreement on energy and climate and a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the energy sector.
The two countries also prepared a roadmap to strengthen cooperation between them by investing in many fields, including the Neom city project in addition to the fields of artificial intelligence, railways and industry.
