In an interview with the economic reporter of Fars News Agency, Shahreh Sadrikhanlou said, referring to the efforts of domestic experts in the technical-engineering operations of Chamshir dam construction, some environmental activists have recently said that the Shadgan wetland will be affected by the Chamshir dam’s water intake on the Zahra river. However, this issue is an obvious mistake and the Chamshir Dam is located in the Zahra-Handijan catchment area.

This senior expert in environmental assessment and analysis emphasized: The operation of Chamshir Dam has no effect on Shadgan Wetland, the Zahra River flows westward after Chamshir Dam, and after Zaidoon Plain in the north of Handijan Range, it changes its course and goes towards It moves south.

He added: This river flows into the Persian Gulf at the end of its course. Therefore, along its route from the Chamshir Dam to the end of the Zohra River, this river has no connection with the waters entering the Shadgan Wetland, and the claim of the connection between the Chamshir Dam and the Shadgan Wetland is a wrong statement.

This environmental assessment and analysis expert stated that it is not correct to provide wrong information to the people about specialized issues, and said: Environmental activists always call transparency in information one of their civic demands. This transparency in information means providing correct information, but unfortunately, some environmental activists, not only in Iran but also in the world, have confused people by providing wrong information.

He continued: In recent years, in addition to high access to information, we have also encountered a phenomenon called celebrity. People who are introduced as more well-known people in the society. These can be an environmental activist or an actor, a scientist, or even a comedian, etc., but in many cases, we are faced with the non-expert comments of these people about the specialized issues of the country, which do not have a correct foundation.

Sadri Khanlou said: Repeating this presentation of wrong information by environmental activists will eventually damage the power of activism and the capacity of collective environmental activities in the country.

He continued: “Unfortunately, in the past years, we have faced a wave of these wrong comments about specialized issues by some figures known as environmental activists in the country, which has severely damaged the specialized body of the environment.”

Sadri Khanlou stated: Regarding the botanical report of the Chamshir Dam reservoir, which was submitted to the Environmental Protection Organization in the environmental impact assessment studies and was provided with the approval of the report, the basis for obtaining an environmental permit for the Chamshir Dam, it should be said that the Environmental Protection Organization as It is the supreme authority for approval or rejection of environmental studies of all projects in the country.

He added: Therefore, the approval of the environmental studies report of a plan by this reference organization means the approval of the quality of the report.

This environmental expert emphasized: A project that receives an environmental permit means that it is allowed to start working. Chamshir dam is not an exception to this rule, it has started working based on the environmental permit obtained from the country’s highest environmental authority, during the years of construction and construction activities of the project, the Environmental Protection Organization has continuously monitored the activities of the workshop. Chamshir Dam has been completed.

Sadri Khanlou stated: The construction of a large dam like Chamshir is not a matter for the Provincial Environment Department to ignore its environmental issues during these years and not have any supervision on compliance with environmental standards in this dam during the construction period.

He continued: The botanical discussion of the dam reservoir was also included in the environmental report and was approved. Of course, every botanist has some expert opinions about every range. There may be a difference of opinion about the presence of several plants or the percentage of vegetation of some plants. Well, these expert issues can exist on all designs and all areas between specialized experts.

This environmental expert said: These small differences of expert opinion for plants do not negate the whole issue regarding the approval of environmental studies of the plan.
