The beginning of negotiations to sign a preferential trade agreement between Iran and Vietnam

According to IRNA’s report on Tuesday from Trade Development Organization, “Luong Quoc Hui”, the ambassador of Vietnam to Iran, met and discussed with Alireza Peymanpak, the head of this organization, while attending the Trade Development Organization.
At first, Peymanpak pointed out that this meeting is a prelude to the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Vietnam, and said: the figure of trade interactions between the two countries is 120 million dollars, which is not an acceptable number and should be increased with the development of cooperation.
Pointing out that this issue has various reasons that should be identified while considering a logical solution to resolve these issues, he added: Currently, the businessmen of the two countries do not have sufficient knowledge of each other’s capacities, and effective measures and planning should be done in this regard. take so that we can improve the space for the development of trade between the parties.
The head of the Trade Development Organization emphasized that the balance of trade between the two countries should increase to 2 billion dollars and continued: The first step in this direction is holding a joint commission to activate past understandings because four years have passed since the last commission was held between the parties. It is necessary to hold coordination meetings in this regard as soon as possible.
He listed the second step as sending and receiving trade delegations between the two countries, which can play a role in the development of trade between the two countries, and added: if these missions are planned and done in a coherent and logical manner, favorable trade agreements will be concluded between the parties. will be.
Referring to the fact that delegations can be sent at the same time as different exhibitions are held in both countries, Peymanpak added: In order to manage and discuss the leadership of these processes and their effectiveness, it is necessary to conclude an agreement with our corresponding organization in Vietnam.
He further emphasized: Another discussion in line with increasing trade between the two countries is the start of negotiations to sign a preferential trade agreement between the two countries. The matter that was done with Indonesia and we hope that with the necessary follow-up, this agreement between Iran and Vietnam will be signed and implemented.
The head of the trade development organization considered the creation of a clearing process between the two countries as another important issue in the development and expansion of commercial cooperation and pointed out: there are products and productions in both countries that are needed by the other country, and with the clearing process, these products can be exchanged with exchanged each other; Events that can lead to more exports.
Stating that problems and financial issues can be resolved in the meantime, he reminded: In order for trade to take place in the clearing method in an effective way for the economy of the two countries, two axes can be defined. The first is the introduction of the companies that carry out clearing operations through an agreement between the two countries, and the second is the preparation of the list of countries and selected companies to start clearing operations.
Peyman Pak continued his speech as follows: The next issue in the expansion of Khat cooperation is the connection between the insurance funds of the two countries. Currently, the Iran Export Guarantee Fund has signed an agreement with its partner funds in different countries, including Russia, Bulgaria, Oman, Kazakhstan and African countries, according to which the necessary coordination for the issuance of insurance policies is issued for the exporters of the parties. An incident that has greatly helped our target countries to develop trade, and this process can also be used to develop trade between Iran and Vietnam.
He emphasized the readiness of Iranian technical and engineering companies to be present in the Vitam market and added: the establishment of joint production lines, especially pharmaceutical or biotechnological pharmaceuticals, greater cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries, which plays a role in increasing the commercial capacities of the two countries, cooperation in the field of mineral issues with Paying attention to the good capacities of the two countries and announcing Iran’s readiness for Vietnam to use the North-South Corridor for more communication with the Eurasian Union, CIS, Russia, etc. can play an effective role in the development of trade and exports between the two countries.
In the continuation of this meeting, “Luong Quoc Hui”, the ambassador of Vietnam in Iran, announced his agreement with the issues raised by the head of the trade organization and emphasized that the implementation of these issues directly will play a role in the development of joint cooperation between the two countries for the development of exports. He went on to point out that in the first seven months of 2022 and after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, all business and production areas of Vietnam have returned to normal, the country’s economic situation has stabilized and inflation is under control, adding: Currently, the amount 431 billion dollars is the trade balance between Vietnam and other countries, and we have a high potential to have economic cooperation with Iran in various fields.
The ambassador of Vietnam mentioned Iran as the biggest trading partner of Vietnam in the Middle East, South East and East Asia and considered our country as a gateway for the export of Vietnamese products to Europe.
He added: Currently, there are very few commercial activities between the two countries, which has many reasons, many of which you mentioned, but the problems of the Covid-19 era and the lack of direct flights between the parties should also be added to them.
Emphasizing the necessity of establishing a joint trade cooperation commission between the two countries, “Luong Quoc Hui” announced that Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced its readiness to hold this commission.
He added: The communication between the Embassy of Vietnam in Iran and the Trade Development Organization is a major need to increase cooperation in the field of sending business delegations. Also, considering that next year is the 50th year of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, we are fully prepared to hold exhibitions and B2B business meetings between the two countries.
The ambassador of Vietnam in Iran also expressed hope that the agreement on clearing cooperation between the two countries will be signed soon. Also, if an issue remained silent in the past, it will be implemented with the necessary arrangements.
Peymanpak then announced that this meeting is a good start for more serious cooperation in the development of trade and exports between the two countries. He also called for the formation of a joint commission between the two countries before the end of 2022, so that this commission can resolve many issues related to the commercial cooperation of the parties.
