The big and historical bazaar of Isfahan, a symbol of trust in the urban society

Mustafa Nabatinejad, head of Isfahan Islamic Council Research Center, wrote in a note: Isfahan has always been the focus of kings throughout history, and especially during the Safavid period, after it was chosen as the capital, it grew economically, politically and culturally. During this period, many works and buildings were built in Isfahan, and these buildings are considered among the most beautiful tourist attractions of this city today. One of these valuable buildings is Isfahan Bazaar. As one of the architectural masterpieces of the Safavid era, this market still maintains its past prosperity and currently welcomes many tourists from all over the world.

Isfahan Bazaar is a historical monument of the Safavids. This bazaar is one of the most dynamic and beautiful traditional bazaars in Iran, and it has various parts, some of which are older than others. Some parts of Isfahan bazaar that are older were built in the Safavid era and some parts were built in the Qajar era. In general, in the center of Isfahan city (around Naqsh Jahan Square), there are many rows and shops that continue around Atiq Square and Jame Hakim Mosque, and they are all considered part of Isfahan market.

Considering the greatness of this historical market, from the beginning of entering the Islamic Council of the city, I witnessed that the majority of people’s references and requests are related to the issue of Isfahan’s large market. Many institutions did not have the necessary facilities and power to solve the problems of the market, and they did not have a clear unity of action in terms of providing services to the marketers. The market and marketers have their own special needs.

Many of our concerns today in the area of Isfahan’s large and historical bazaar are related to the protection of the cultural heritage of the bazaar, the establishment of safety, the crossing barrier, cleanliness and cultural issues related to it.

During the past two years, in collaboration with other institutions, we have collected and classified the issues and problems surrounding the market in the research center of the Islamic City Council and submitted our proposals to the executive bodies, and fortunately, all these institutions welcomed these proposals.

There is a need for special follow-up regarding various issues of the market, for example, closing the path of motorcycles or banning the movement of cars on some routes is one of the measures that should be taken into consideration for the Isfahan Grand Bazaar. Some of the people are concerned about the barrier in the market, but many marketers show a lot of resistance in this regard due to their needs, therefore, the appointment of the board of trustees of the market seems to be a valuable step in the direction of removing many obstacles regarding the optimal use of be the market

For this purpose, a letter was sent to Isfahan Governor by the Islamic Council of the city, and along with the attached studies, he and the governor’s group were requested to review the preparations for the formation of the market’s board of trustees and make a decision.

In the governorate, according to this proposal, while agreeing to it, several meetings were held, and this issue was delegated to Isfahan governorate after review, and finally, several meetings were held with all levels of executive bodies at the provincial and city levels in Isfahan governorate, and in the first place, the charter of the board of trustees of the market And its draft was compiled and then based on it, it was decided that the general assembly and a coherent founding board were formed from within the general assembly, and subsequently, the legal supporting documents of this structure were formed.

This process lasted for nearly a year, that is, from the fall of 1401 to the fall of this year, and finally, with the completion of this process, at the end of this fall, the first election of the board of trustees of the Isfahan market was held in compliance with the quota of all sections of the huge Isfahan market.

After the formation of the founding board and the board of trustees of the market, it was decided that similar to the dialogue council of the private sector and the government, relevant and effective institutions in the protection of the market will be placed next to the board of trustees and the dialogue and interaction council of the market will be formed.

Institutions related to Isfahan Grand Bazaar area are divided into two government and beneficiary categories, among the institutions of the first category, we can mention the municipality, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, and the General Directorate of Endowments, and among the second category institutions, we can refer to the seminaries or Qarz Al-Hasna funds that operate in the market. .

It is hoped that with the formation of the board of trustees of Isfahan Grand Bazaar, while protecting this valuable historical heritage, the development of the national gross product through the development of economic activities and the development of the tourism industry in this complex can be encouraged.
