The call for the sixth edition of the “Flight” film festival was published

Charso Press: According to the public relations of the sixth “Flight” film festival, the text of this call states:

“Flight” International Film Festival is a cultural and non-governmental event to present the best short films at the national and international level with the aim of creating culture about the issues and capabilities of people with disabilities. Considering that 15% of the world’s population is disabled in some way, this event tries to pave the way by benefiting from the new achievements of experienced, professional and young filmmakers in order to raise awareness and improve the quality of life of these people who are the world’s largest minority.

The sixth edition of the “Flight” international film festival will be held in Tehran from 10 to 17 December 1402 (1 to 8 December) at the same time as the International Day of Disability Awareness. In this period of the festival, fiction, documentary, experimental, animation films with a maximum time of 30 minutes and 120-second films produced by mobile phones, which create variety and plurality of topics in the field of issues of people with disabilities, will compete. Based on this, the works produced with the desired approaches in the sixth period will be of special importance. These approaches include:

Representing the challenges of mothers with children with disabilities

Encouraging society to accept people with Down syndrome

Increasing awareness about autism spectrum disorder

Adapting films and cinema to the needs of people with disabilities

Explaining the impact of artificial intelligence and transformative technologies in the lives of people with disabilities

Finding solutions related to the challenges of livelihood, employment, entrepreneurship and art education of people with disabilities

Also, films that are released for the first time in the world, Asia or the country will be selected and judged in priority.

Competitive parts of the festival:

A) Iranian cinema:

All the short films produced (from the beginning of the fall of 1400 until now) within the framework of the festival’s goals with a maximum time of 30 minutes and in all types of fiction, documentary, experimental and animation can be present in this section.

b) world cinema:

This section, with the approach of building public culture for the society’s correct understanding of people with disabilities, includes films that have been produced in all kinds of fiction, documentary, animated and experimental genres outside of Iran. The works of this section must have been produced after the fall of 1400 and the beginning of October 2021.

c) Filmmakers with disabilities:

This section will be held with the aim of showing the effectiveness of capable filmmakers with various disabilities in the development of the art of world cinema and includes all short films with a maximum duration of 30 minutes whose director or producer has a disability and were not present in any of the festival periods before.

d) Special look (120 second mobile movies):

This section is a special opportunity for teachers, parents and people who somehow deal with the issue of disability and witness special moments that happen to people with disabilities. Therefore, this section, with the approach of presenting real and live narratives from the lives of people with disabilities, includes videos with a maximum time of 120 seconds and recorded using a mobile phone camera.

e) Screenplay:

All the screenwriters and authors from all over the world can submit the text of their short screenplays, which are suitable for the theme and approaches of the festival and for the production of short fiction, documentary, experimental and animation films with a maximum time of approximately 15 minutes, on a maximum of 15 A4 pages in Persian or English. Send to the secretariat. Obviously, the plot, synapse or story summary, or one-line ideas will not be removed from the competition and judging section.

General conditions for participation in the Iran and World cinema section:

The participation of all filmmakers and producers is free.

Registration and uploading works in the festival is only possible online. Therefore, it is necessary for applicants to complete the application form for participation in the festival by referring to the net site and then uploading the link of the movie file.

The filmmakers whose film is accepted into the competition section must send the original version of the film to the festival secretariat within 5 working days after the announcement of the names of the winners according to the technical conditions announced in the section “Technical conditions of the selected works”. In case of delay, the secretariat can remove the film.

Films that make it to the competition section must have an English subtitled version.

It is mandatory to send a teaser in MPG4 format for a maximum of one minute and with a size of at least 25 MB along with the movie version.

Films that make it to the competition section will receive a certificate of participation in the festival.

Films that do not meet the necessary technical standards will be removed from the competition at the discretion of the festival secretariat.

After the films make their way to the festival, it will not be possible to remove the works from the festival program.

The final decision about the unforeseen cases that are not included in the current regulations, or the ambiguities caused by its provisions and changes in some regulations, rests with the festival secretary.

The producer of the work or his legal representative, by sending the film to the International Short Flight Film Festival, gives the necessary permission and authorization to show the selected films, regardless of the profit and financial aspect and for the purpose of educational exploitation, to the festival secretariat throughout Iran and in the form of online screenings or They gave a short film and denied the right to protest in this regard.

If the screenplay of your work is an adaptation, please check the relevant option and specify the source of the adaptation.

Completing the application form to participate in the festival means accepting all the announced regulations.

All the works entered into the competition section will be required to have a screening permit from the Deputy of Cinematography Supervision and Evaluation, and the process of obtaining a screening permit for these works will be done by the secretariat of the “Sixth International Flight Short Film Festival”.

Technical conditions of works entered into the competition section:

All submitted works should be submitted to the festival secretariat only in the form of data files.

The works must be delivered to the festival office in one of the Full HD-HDV cuts and necessarily with a frame rate of 25P-24P or 50i and a minimum size of 750Mb and a maximum of 5Gb.

Important note:

Owners of works produced in surround sound (5.1) can submit the corresponding version along with the stereo version to the festival secretariat.

Obviously, due to the abundance of works and the time limit, miscellaneous formats or files with errors will not be included in the stage of selecting the works.

Subtitle technical conditions: The English subtitle of the works must be integrated with the image itself (Merge); It is also suggested to use Arial black font in size 36 with yellow color and black stroke for all works.

General conditions of the screenwriting department

Participation in the festival is open to the public.

All short fiction, documentary, animation and experimental screenplays according to the theme and goals of the festival will be able to participate in this festival.

All works must be in Farsi or English.

The maximum number of script pages should be 15 pages.

Applicants should send a PDF version of their screenplay to the festival secretariat in B Nazanin font and size 14 (for Persian language) and in Arial font and size 14 (for English language).

Completing and submitting the application form to participate in the festival means accepting all the regulations of the festival.

Each person can send several works to this festival, but in the end only one work from one author will enter the festival for judging.
