Experts believe that this project was proposed in an emotional and slogan-like atmosphere, and therefore it has not been discussed by experts. Accordingly, this project has faced many challenges in the past two years and has fallen behind the set goals.

The challenges of building a national housing movement

Although one of the most important challenges in the construction of national housing is the lack of credit and the government has tried to support this project with bank loans, but these facilities have rarely been paid so far; Since none of the key projects have reached the stage where they are eligible for loans according to the regulations, the banks have refused to pay the loans.

But during the construction of the National Housing Movement project, land supply is even more important than this challenge. The government is facing a severe shortage of land to build its new plan, and it is afraid that it will fall into the housing market error. Especially, the murmur of creating new cities with the aim of advancing the national housing movement plan is also heard.

Creation of 4 new cities in the southern Salhli strip

Alireza Jafari, the CEO of the New Cities Development Company, in explaining the company’s policies to create new cities and residential towns in order to fulfill the goals of the 13th government, said: Now more than 77 points for the formation of new cities and residential towns have been identified and are on the agenda for is under construction.

Referring to the high demand for housing in the National Housing Movement system and the expectation of applicants to create new capacities in the provision of land by the New Cities Development Company, he added: part of the missions of the New Cities Development Company is to build housing and provide superstructure and infrastructure services to provide Land is concentrated in new cities. In this regard, the creation of four new cities “Mehrgan”, “Golman”, “Tabnak” and “Chah Mubarak” is on the agenda, and according to the approval of the government board, company registration, organization and implementation of their urban development projects are planned.

Jafari has stated that the establishment of these four new cities is now in the stage of company registration and at the same time the matter of establishing the executives of these new cities is being pursued.

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development thanked the officials of the four provinces of the southern coastal strip for obtaining settlement approvals in less than three months and said: the set of works done shows a serious determination to create new cities and towns, which we are trying to achieve by obtaining them on time. Their approvals from the Supreme Council of Urban Planning and Architecture of Iran allow us to enter the implementation phase of building new residential cities and towns as soon as possible.

Jafari stated: The stages of identifying and locating new cities and towns are being pursued based on the needs of the province and the level of immigration, with an emphasis on improving the quality of life in new cities.

It seems that the government is planning to build new cities with the aim of advancing its plan, and this is despite the fact that earlier, the Mehr housing plan was also grounded for this reason. If this time the government builds new cities without environmental study and taking into account urban amenities, it will impose the same costs on the country and people as it was imposed before during Ahmadinejad’s time.
