The cheap iPhone 15 Pro Max charger cable melted due to heat! + Photo

One of the users published a post on Reddit showing that the USB-C charger cable of his iPhone 15 Pro Max had completely melted and burned his hand and part of his phone. It seems that this user used a cheap and unofficial cable to charge his phone. Due to the iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating issues and Apple’s migration to USB-C, this post has become news.

A user on Reddit He posted that his iPhone 15 Pro Max completely melted the charger cable and burned his hand. He writes in his post:

“I knew the iPhone 15 Pro Max would get hot, but after a month of using it, my phone got so hot overnight that it literally burned my finger. “When I removed the cable, I saw that some of the plastic had melted, there were burn marks on the body, and the metal part of the USB-C cable was stuck inside the port.”

iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating and fake accessories

Before the EU forced Apple to replace its Lightning connector with USB-C, there was a lot of debate about why Apple had delayed migrating to USB-C. Apple’s preference to use MFi (or “Made for iPhone”) certification for its Lightning-certified accessories also limited users from using any cables; Now, Apple no longer issues this certificate in the new iPhone 15 series, and now it is possible for users to use any type of USB-C cable to charge the latest Apple flagship.

Although the iPhone 15 series can be charged with any type of USB-C cable, it seems better to use the cable in the box or from trusted accessory brands. In the recent incident, the user did not say in his post what kind of cable he used, but according to reports, this person bought a travel adapter and a generic USB-C cable from Amazon and used it to charge the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
