The city is empty of works of art / Art events in our country have a special audience

Manijeh Armin, the secretary of the ceramics department of the 14th Fajr Festival of Visual Arts, told a visual reporter of Fars News Agency about the method and quality of the festival: “I think it is better for the works of all art disciplines to be displayed together in the festival.” Because different biennials and exhibitions for art disciplines are held separately and the festival is the only event in which all disciplines participate.

He added: “This event causes artists to interact with each other and seeing the works of others raises the visual arts.” But it is good that each field has its own judges because judging is a specialized job and an artist who is very skilled in his field may not be able to judge the works of another field well.

Armin continued: “Because the competition section is more colorful, more talent search occurs and the festival takes a youthful approach.” But it can not be said that the artistic events that took place during the year can be seen in the festival. If there is a special section for professional and veteran artists at the festival, these people can also present their work at the festival. In my opinion, it is even better for these works to be placed not in separate sections, but next to the works of the younger ones, and for the audience to see them all together.

Regarding the impact of the festival on the art community, he said: “This is an issue that needs to be researched, but I think it has had a positive impact in general because different disciplines can participate in the festival.” As an artist with many years of experience, I was very interested in the work I saw last year in the field of photography and new arts, and it shows that young people work well. Personally, I strongly believe in the work of young people, however, the absence of professional artists and professors in this festival is quite felt.

The artist said about the audience of the Visual Arts Festival: “Most of the artists who visit this festival, and this issue also occurs in other art events such as biennials.” I myself witnessed that in the biennial of ceramics, my work was installed in the open air of Niavaran Cultural Center and the people who passed by it did not notice it at all. This is due to the lack of culture for society.

He added: “Our city and country are empty of works of art, while if a school child in the city sees the presence of works of art, something will bloom in him.” But we have not created a culture for such a view; Therefore, art events in our country have their own audience and can not attract the general audience.

Armin said about his plans for the field of ceramics in this festival: I would like to invite some professional artists to participate in the ceramics section, but the festival should have facilities for us to do so. I would be happy to do that if there is a section for guest artists.
