The comfort of an artist from his Arab-speaking compatriots

Hamed Sheikhi, who stages the show “Bahram according to Haftpakir” these days, consoles the Arab-speaking compatriots who have been hurt by this show, and emphasizes: what is discussed in our show is not about our Arab-speaking compatriots, but about Arabs. Senemar Memar was murdered.

Charso Press: This theater director and actor, while performing his latest play “Bahram according to Haftpiker”, which is on stage these days in Charso Hall of Shahr Theater Complex, provides explanations about this play and theater performance in current conditions.

He, who brought this show on the stage by adapting the military series “Seven Figures”, says: When I wanted to perform this show, many friends believed that this series should be turned into a series because it is not possible to show all the adventures of “Seven Figures” ” in the form of a play, but in the research I did, I found that the foundation of the story can be told in such a way that people like it and it can be narrated in the form of a theater performance.

Sheikhi says about his interest in performing a show based on the “Seven Figure” series: Last year, I became interested in “Seven Figure” during the performance of “Shehrzad according to Senmar” because the story of “Seven Figure” begins with the story of Cinemar Memar. On the other hand, I am also very interested in the character of Bahram, the son of Yazdgerd I, and I have a kind of nationalist feeling towards him.

He adds: I am originally from Rafsanjan. Before the Qajar period, this area was called Bahram Abad because it is written in history that Bahram considered Rafsanjan as his territory and named it Bahram Abad. During the Qajar period, a flood comes and takes away all the stone houses of the city. Since that time, this region has been known as Raftsangan, which later became Rafsanjan.

Sheikhi, who has a great interest in Bahram’s character and plays his role in the show, continues: The main character of “Heftapikar” is Bahram’s character, and the story of Bahramabad is also present in our show. In addition to the story of “Seven Figures”, I have tried to pay attention to the history of Iran during the period of Yazdgerd I, Bahram Gur and Yazdgerd II and his sons Pirouz and Hormuz who became kings.

This director explains about the difficulties of theatrical adaptation of classic literary works: Previously, this task was more difficult due to the limitation we had in theoretical sources, but now, in addition to written sources, there are also internet sources because people find their findings in the virtual space. they share Therefore, the difficulties have decreased, but dealing with these topics must be of interest to a theater group and audience, and a director cannot pursue his interest alone.

He also mentions another issue: it may seem that Bahram’s story is a bit anti-Arab, and we should console the loved ones for whom this show was offensive, because we noticed in the comments of the audience that some Arab-speaking compatriots were offended by our performance. While our discussion is about the Arabs who killed Cinemar Memar and not our Arab speaking compatriots.

Sheikhi, who started performing his show on December 28, says about the audience’s response to this show: Fortunately, our hall was full on Yalda night, and since that night, the reception of our performance has been good. I am very happy for the audience to see this show because we have very few works that deal with “Seven Figures” and in this sense I really like the audience to see our show.

He continues: Some cultural figures who came to watch our show say that it is good for education to prepare a program so that students can come to watch this show because nowadays it seems that teenagers are less interested in reading written works and more connected with visual works. they establish

Sheikhi further points out the similarity between the events of this show and the social events of today and says: One of the reasons why I wanted to stage the show at this point is this similarity. As if history repeats itself. For this reason, the show can be attractive to the audience, because our goal is not to tell a nostalgic story or historical research, but its proximity to the current conditions of society is very important.

He, who believes that theater artists should not leave the stage in this situation, explains about this: Some of our colleagues say that theater is also a job and in the current social conditions, it should continue to operate like other jobs, but I have such a view. I don’t have, but I believe that the theater is our home and I can’t go out of my house and talk, but we have to talk in our own house. It is not our place to talk in the virtual space, because we have a wealth called the stage, which is the best place to say what we want to share with our audience. So why should we leave the scene?
