The Core i9 13980HX processor comes to ASUS ROG Strix laptops

A few days ago, we published information about the flagship processor for Intel laptops, i.e. the Core i9 13980HX processor, and now the Asus engineering team has confirmed that this processor really exists and is going to be in The new generation of ROG Strix gaming laptops This company should be used.

Let us first remind you that HX series processors are desktop class processors for laptops and have been developed for professional gaming laptops. The substrate (Die) and silicon of these processors are basically the same silicon used in desktop processors, and we do not see any reduction in the number of cores compared to desktop models in these processors.

ROG Strix laptops host the Core i9 13980HX processor

As confirmed, two of the laptops that are going to be equipped with the Core i9 13980X flagship processor are the ROG Strix G634JZ and ROG Strix G814JZ laptops, which have 16-inch and 18-inch screens, respectively. ROG Strix G series laptops had 15- and 17-inch screens before, and the fact that these new models are equipped with 16- and 18-inch screens means the development of a new chassis for them.

These two gaming laptops are equipped with a Core i9 13980HX processor, which is a 24-core processor, and according to Geekbench database, it has a maximum frequency of 5.4 GHz. Of course, the frequency seen for this processor is a little lower than the frequency announced for it (5.6 GHz).

The published results of this processor on these two laptops are a bit confusing. The 13980HX processor in our discussed 16-inch laptop performed very poorly in Geekbench and even got a lower score than the Core i9 13900HX processor. On the other hand, in the 18-inch model, this processor has performed better than the 13900HX processor in the single-core and multi-core tests by 5% and 2%, respectively. With this account, the performance difference between the 13980HX and 13900HX processors is very small and can be ignored.

Raptor Lake HX laptop processors are going to be introduced along with Intel’s Raptor Lake H/HK processors during the CES 2023 event. The Intel conference will be held on January 3 during this event, and the company will introduce all its new products.
