The disgraceful defeat of the United States and Saudi Arabia in electing the speaker of the Lebanese parliament

According to Fars News Agency International Group, members of the new Lebanese parliament today (Tuesday) attended the parliament headquarters in Al-Najma Square to elect a new chairman.

Nabih Berri was re-elected Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament with 65 votes out of 128. 40 votes were declared invalid and 23 deputies voted blank.

Lebanese political affairs researcher Naseeb Hatit points to news network referring to the failure of US and Saudi plans to reach affiliated candidates for parliamentary seats العالم “Nabih Berri’s victory in parliament for the seventh time marks the defeat of the US project in Lebanon,” he said.

While congratulating the Lebanese people on this important election achievement, Hatit stressed that with Barry elected, US plans to elect a speaker of parliament failed; Because it claimed that Washington-affiliated lawmakers had succeeded in gaining a parliamentary majority.

Stating that the United States claimed that it could determine who would be the speaker of the Lebanese parliament, he noted that today it was proven by evidence that neither the United States nor the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon had won a parliamentary majority, but nationalist forces. And dependent on the resistance, still holding the majority.

The post-election pro-Saudi and pro-Saudi media claimed that Lebanon’s Hezbollah and its allies had failed to win a parliamentary majority, but Barry’s election showed that these allegations were purely false propaganda. It has been the media.

Samir Geagea, leader of the Lebanese-Al-Qawat al-Qaeda party, which is affiliated with Saudi Arabia and the United States and is opposed to the resistance, had previously said it would not vote for Barry. Geagea claimed that members of the forces affiliated with the forces and the opposition were planning to elect a new speaker of parliament to “protect the Lebanese government.”

Like the United States and Saudi Arabia, he claimed that Hezbollah had lost its parliamentary majority and would therefore seek to return “strategic decision-making to the government” by electing another speaker for parliament, with a security and military decision in hand. Be the Lebanese army.

It should be noted that American-Arab efforts were made to engineer the process and results of the Lebanese parliamentary elections led by Washington and Riyadh; The goals and tools of the two became more similar when the weakening of nationalist political groups (such as the Patriotic Free Movement) and the resistance parties (such as the Hezbollah movement and the Amal movement) was chosen as their common policy. The main goal of the Riyadh and Washington embassies in Beirut was to disperse pro-Hezbollah Lebanese votes and strengthen the social base of extremist parties in line with Arab-Zionist policies.

Given the current situation in Lebanon at the political and economic levels, they found the best means to achieve this goal to be money and injecting financial aid into their allies. The effect of injecting this American-Saudi property was felt in several places, the first stage of which was before the voting process began.

The second phase of the impact of these donations became apparent on election day; Where the Lebanese forces affiliated with Samir Geagea and the Lebanese battalions (two anti-resistance parties) owned the largest and most well-known Lebanese networks almost all day. During some voting hours, these networks covered and broadcast live the activities of the headquarters of the parties affiliated with Washington and Riyadh.

This situation provoked many reactions and analyzes inside and outside Lebanon. Not only parties close to the resistance movements, but also other Lebanese political parties and currents pointed to the financial support and media confrontation between the American and Saudi parties and criticized their anti-national actions.

As for Washington’s strategy in this election, it should be said that the American strategies to shape the desired results began with the October 2019 protests. The Americans took advantage of those protests and their continuation; On the one hand, with the economic blockade of the Lebanese people, they narrowed the field for the people and the activities of the Lebanese markets, and on the other hand, with the political pressure on the Beirut authorities, they bought more power for their agents inside Lebanon.

In the end, the United States and Saudi Arabia have so far failed to defeat the resistance and its allies in Lebanon in the parliamentary elections, and Barry’s election exposed their false claims, but Washington and Riyadh will not stop sabotaging and will try. By postponing the formation of the government and by increasing the scope of Lebanon’s livelihood crises, they should hold Hezbollah responsible for the current situation and work for goals such as civil war and disarmament of the resistance.

End of message.
