The dramatic increase in the monthly subscription price of Microsoft drives 365 customers to subscribe annually


According to the CNBC website, Microsoft intends to divert some of its customers from having a monthly subscription to using an annual subscription. The change, due out next year, will force customers to pay for a full one-year subscription to Microsoft 365, even if their needs end before the full subscription period expires.

Of course, as expected, the monthly option means that customers will pay their subscription fee each month, while the annual subscription allows customers to pay monthly (subject to a one-year continuous payment commitment) or a full year down payment.

In addition to the move, Microsoft has spoken of product improvements in response to the change, yet some of its customers see it as more of a “punishment” for those who want a flexible monthly commitment, and even a scroll of protest. They have created Change.org, in which it urges Microsoft to ignore the 20% price increase and act as before.

It is worth noting that the creator of this scroll talks about the usefulness of a monthly plan for scaling licenses as needed, as well as helping businesses keep costs down during the Corona Pandemic.
