The earthquake did not damage the historical monuments of South Khorasan

“After the earthquake this morning, the forces of the Protection Unit inspected the historical monuments, but fortunately no damage has been reported so far,” Hassan Ramezani was quoted as saying by the Public Relations Department of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of South Khorasan.
An earthquake measuring 8.4 on the Richter scale shook Arinshahr in South Khorasan on Sunday morning.
The quake struck at 5:08:07 a.m. today at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter was reported at 39 km from Arinshahr, 55 km from Se Qaleh and 58 km from Qaen. The quake was also felt in some neighboring cities, including Birjand. The villages of the epicenter include Chelonak, Chahak Mousavieh, Chah Ghias and Qomjanjan, and for this reason the people of these villages have left their homes.
Arinshahr is located in the north of Birjand.
