The Emir of Kuwait accepted the resignation of the government

According to IRNA, quoting the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas, “Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah”, the Emir of Kuwait, accepted the resignation of the government today.

The emir of Kuwait also ordered that the prime minister and each of the ministers continue in office until a new government is formed.

The Kuwaiti media reported on Monday before the resignation of the government.

Al-Qabas wrote that the Kuwaiti government had submitted its resignation to the emir of this country.

No further details have been released on the reasons behind the Kuwaiti government’s resignation.

A government source told Al-Qabas newspaper six days ago that the Kuwaiti cabinet meeting ended before noon today, after which cabinet ministers submitted their resignations to the emir.

The official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) also reported that the Kuwaiti government cabinet convened an extraordinary meeting at the Saif Palace last Sunday evening to discuss resolving disputes and overcoming obstacles that disrupted Kuwaiti parliamentary sessions.

No further details on the dispute were provided by the official Kuwaiti news agency.

The current Kuwaiti government, including 15 ministers, was sworn in before the emir last March.

The previous Kuwaiti government took the oath of office on December 14 and resigned on January 18.

The current Kuwaiti government was formed on December 24 following the resignation of Prince Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

At the time, the Kuwaiti prime minister announced his government’s resignation a week after a parliamentary impeachment was issued against him for what lawmakers called a “delay in presenting his agenda.”
