The European Commission fined 4 billion euros against Google

According to the media reporter of Fars News Agency, quoted by Euronewsthe General Court of the European Union confirmed the 4 billion euro fine of the European Commission against Google.

The General Court of the European Union, which is the second most prestigious European judicial institution after the Court of Justice of the European Union, approved the unprecedented fine of the European Commission against Google.

The court confirmed that “Google imposed illegal restrictions on Android mobile devices” in order to gain “more financial profit through its search engine” and gain market control in this sector. According to this court, “Google has not complied with the issue of fair competition in the European Union.”

Of course, the General Court of the European Union slightly reduced the original fine that the European Commission imposed on Google and brought it to 4.1 billion dollars.

In 2018, the European Union Commission condemned Google to pay a fine of 4.3 billion euros.

Google previously complained about the fine proposed by the European Commission and asked the General Court of the European Union to decide on this matter.

In its complaint, Google argued that the European Union unfairly waives the same process against Apple, which imposes its services such as Safari on iPhones.

The lawyers of this American company say that Google has never “made Android mobile customers dependent on its software and search engines like Apple.”

Thomas Vinje, a lawyer for the FairSearch organization, who was involved in the European Commission’s first complaints against Google, says: “This way, Google can no longer impose its will on mobile phone manufacturers. Today, they have to give Android phones the ability to have all the search engines, and that increases the choice of customers and consumers.”

The decision of the public court is not necessarily the end of the story. Both parties can appeal to the European Court of Justice, the highest and highest judicial institution of the European Union, for a final opinion on the payment or non-payment of the fine.
