In an interview with Mehr reporter, Mohammad Turkashund said about the youth volleyball team’s championship in the World Championship: Iran’s youth did not play well in the first matches, and this was a little worrying that the team might not be able to get the result of the previous round, but due to the knowledge we had of the technical staff and the right path they had chosen, thank God, they were able to achieve this great success.

The technical staff went ahead with the program and this helped them a lot. Ever since Khanzadeh joined the team, the conditions have improved a lot and the players have been playing more regularly. There were some minor problems in the team, but due to the experience of the technical staff and coaches of the national team, they were able to manage the situation in the best way.

The burden has been lifted from the shoulders of volleyball

Referring to the performance of the team against Italy in the final game, the Iranian volleyball expert said: Despite the fact that the team was behind by two sets, the technical staff managed to return the result. This victory and winning the championship title was encouraging in the days of volleyball disappointment when we did not get results in the senior category. At least this championship helped to remove the psychological burden from the shoulders of volleyball.

Unlike the national team, the youth team had tactical discipline

In response to the issue of what reasons made the youth team return to the game, but the same thing did not happen to the adults and even they lost in the winning game in the end, Turkashund said: This issue goes back to the tactical order of the team and the coaches also influenced the players mentally and psychologically. The players accepted their coaches and were never disappointed by them. The players fully believed that the coaching staff’s plans would be implemented on the field, and that was impressive.

The main problem of the national team was not knowing the main composition

Referring to the weakness of the national team in the League of Nations, he said: “Unfortunately, the main weakness of the national team in the League of Nations was not knowing the main composition of the team.” This problem did not exist in the youth team and the staff members had reached the main composition of the team. In the adult national volleyball team, it was completely unplanned, the team was weak in terms of technical and tactical discipline, but none of these problems existed in the youth category.

Youth should be properly protected

In response to this issue, the Iranian volleyball expert said that the future of Iranian volleyball will be bright with the presence of young people. We have to see if these players will be added to the national team or if they will have to stay behind the current players for years until they retire and then be added to the team. At the current stage, correct and planned support is very important.

The formation of “B” team is the main need of Iranian volleyball

He emphasized the importance of forming the “B” team for the future of volleyball and said: “Definitely one of our main needs in volleyball is the formation of the “B” team, which Velasco did during his stay in Iran. If we had a “B” team, four days before the Olympic selection, the team would not have to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games. The “B” team was sent to the Asian Games, and the senior team went to the Olympic qualifiers, and less pressure was placed on the main team.

Some men like to participate in all competitions!

Turkashund said: These plans should be done by the federation, but unfortunately, some friends are interested in participating in all the games, while this is harming volleyball and the support is not done properly. If the youth team is sent to the Asian Games, they have a chance to get a podium, maybe they won’t be able to win the championship title now, but they will definitely go on the podium. It was workable, but the policy of the National Olympic Committee is different, they opened a special account on the volleyball medal, but it is really difficult to win against the powerful Japan, and if we are going to lose against Japan with the senior team, why not give this opportunity to the youth.

Do not deceive the public opinion by strengthening the technical staff

The Iranian volleyball expert said about the strengthening of the technical staff and the presence of first-class foreign coaches as assistant coaches in the national team: I think these talks are playing with public opinion and cheating. This is not the right thing to do and it may cause the team to suffer mentally. Maybe this is a bit of a political issue, but of course sports should be separate from these issues. If a coach is not working out for any reason and the players can’t accept him as a coach, the sooner the transfer takes place, the better for volleyball.

If the assistant coach is supposed to be versatile, what is the role of the head coach?

He emphasized: The main problem of our team is not the assistant coach, because in the end, the head coach is the decision maker. If the assistant coach is supposed to do everything, what’s wrong with recruiting him as the head coach from the beginning. If the head coach likes volleyball, what’s wrong with being an assistant coach in the national team? In my opinion, it is not a bad thing and they can learn and improve. Friends should have the courage to solve any problems and help volleyball, not to harm volleyball because of their own interests. If someone is hired as a coach in the national team, his contract is different from the head coach; They are also professionals and may be recruited as coaches, but their contract will be as long as a head coach. Our system is completely different from Japan, and I doubt that this will work in Iranian volleyball.

Why are the players of the national team not listening?

Turkashund also said in response to Mousavi’s words that the players should be heard: I wish Mohammad Mousavi would explain the reason why the players are not heard. Mousavi is an experienced Iranian volleyball player and worked hard. The likes of Saeed Maarouf and Mohammad Mousavi are among the exceptions in Iranian volleyball, but he is no longer a young player and has become more cautious about many issues. As a captain, his intention is to protect the team, which is true. One should not tell all the facts, but people are smart and understand many issues, and I think there is no need to open up the issues.
