The founder of the Screenwriters Association of America has died



Lois Hunter, who was a university professor (UCLA) and famous Hollywood screenwriters, died at the age of 87 due to Covid-19.

Charso Press: According to Variety, “Lois Hunter” was a screenwriting professor at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) who taught many famous Hollywood screenwriters such as “Michael Colliery”, “Alexander Payne” and “Michael Werbe”. He had taught screenwriting.

He started teaching at this university in 1979 and in these years, he retired and in 1988 he was chosen as the head of the screenwriting program and held this title until his retirement in 2000.

“I never had the good fortune to meet Lou Hunter, but his presence is deeply felt in the screenwriting program and his workshop,” said one of the screenwriting professors in a statement for Lois Hunter’s death.

“The idea that students have to finish a feature screenplay in 10 weeks is revolutionary even today, but that’s how writers learn, and Lou literally wrote this book about screenwriting and the legacy of Well, he will always be a part of UCLA.”

A co-founder of the Screenwriters Guild of America, Lois Hunter was inducted into the Guild’s Hall of Fame and in 2015 was the subject of a documentary that chronicled her life and her journey to Hollywood and the impact she had on the people she worked with. .

This prominent screenwriter wrote a book on the art of screenwriting in 2021.

While in Hollywood, he worked as an executive, producer, and writer with The Walt Disney Company, (ABC), (CBC), and (NBC) before attending UCLA as a professional. He was a guest speaker at universities across the United States and held workshops and lectures during his academic career.

He died of covid-19 in a nursing home in Arizona
