The gathering of the World Media and Information Literacy Week was held in Iran


According to Fars news agency, the World Media and Information Literacy Week gathering was attended by Dr. Farshid Rezaei, Director General of Education and Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, Dr. Omid Ali Masoudi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Media Literacy Association of Iran, Morteza Karamoozian, Chairman of Basij Country Media Organization, Mohammad Sadegh. He added: In addition to assessing the needs of users in the field of media and information literacy skills, over the past year and a half, a package consisting of 530 animations, motion graphics and short films on the subject of media literacy has been prepared to be given to immersive audio and video platforms and home viewing. God willing, it will be available to the platforms by the end of this year.

Afrasiabi continued to coordinate with various departments of the Broadcasting Organization to participate in the World Media and Information Literacy Week and said: with the cooperation of radio and television networks during the Media and Information Literacy Week, a radio program and a television program with the theme Media literacy and information will be broadcasted on TV and Sound channels. In addition to this, the content of a number of media literacy TV programs, including “Rasanesh” of Omid Network, “Chai Net” of Channel 5 and “Targerd” of Channel 2, will be available on platforms licensed by Satra from Saturday. Also, “Digiton”, “Filmnet” and “Tamashakhone” platforms have planned special programs for this week, which will be announced by the media during the media literacy week.

In addition, the Director General of Education and Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education said: After the spread of the Corona virus and the wide spread of fake news about this disease, the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education seriously put the promotion of media literacy on its agenda. The Health Education and Promotion Office, in cooperation with its partners, has been implementing various programs to increase health media literacy at the household and community level since the Corona epidemic in order to increase the health literacy of the society.

He added: Improving media literacy is one of the requirements of self-care literacy and health literacy. The state of information and news that is provided to people in social networks in the field of health shows the need to increase the media literacy of the society more than ever. Self-care is the cornerstone of health, and media literacy is an important part of a person’s ability in this field.

Rezaei pointed out: The slogan of this year’s World Media and Information Literacy Week has been declared by UNESCO, information and media literacy, a national and global priority. This week, in cooperation with the Iranian Media Literacy Association, 11 educational webinars have been planned for professors and students of the country’s medical sciences universities and numerous radio and television programs with the participation of Sed and Sema.

The head of the country’s Basij Media Organization also said in this gathering: As the servant of the country’s media community, the Basij Media Organization has the task of educating and promoting media literacy in our beloved country, Islamic Iran, as well as fellow countrymen throughout the country, which, by the grace of God and with the efforts of our colleagues in different provinces, By holding special training workshops for Basij members and their families, we have been able to contribute to the improvement of cyberspace literacy in the country.

In the continuation of the gathering, Omid Ali Masoudi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Media Literacy Association of Iran and Leila Wasali, a member of the academic faculty of Allameh Tabatabai University and the Vice-Chancellor of the Media Literacy Association of Iran, expressed the most important priorities needed by the country in the field of media literacy and trained 40 media literacy specialists after two years. The year of learning lessons and workshop practice for teaching media literacy teaching skills was announced to school teachers and university professors of the country.

November 2nd to 9th every year has been designated by UNESCO as the World Media and Information Literacy Week.
