All GCC countries are ready to end diplomatic relations with Lebanon in the near future.

According to Sputnik, Lebanese television channel MTV quoted a source close to the Gulf Cooperation Council as saying that all GCC member states are ready to end diplomatic relations with Lebanon in the near future.

Earlier, Saudi state television reported that Riyadh had officially summoned its ambassador to Lebanon for consultations and asked the Lebanese ambassador to leave Saudi Arabia within 48 hours. An Arab diplomatic source said Riyadh was considering severing diplomatic ties with Beirut.

According to this channel, in the next few hours, all GCC countries will expel the Lebanese ambassadors.

A Saudi diplomatic source, in turn, told the network that the “diplomatic crisis” would lead to the isolation of Lebanon and that the severance of diplomatic relations was only the beginning.

MTV also quoted a source as saying: “(GCC countries) will resort to comprehensive political and economic sanctions against Lebanon in the coming days.”
