The German Chancellor’s strange claim about the country’s gas resistance
According to the report of Fars News Agency’s International Economy reporter, quoted by Rashatoudi, German Chancellor Olaf Schultz said that the country can solve the current energy crisis and is ready to completely cut off gas imports from Russia.
This German official said in a video speech: We are in a very serious situation, but we are ready; For example, we are ready to cut gas imports from Russia due to the military conflict with Ukraine.
The German chancellor continued: We have prepared terminals in the north of Germany for the import of LNG. We have started gas storage and are again using the power generation capacity of our coal-fired power plants. At the beginning of next year, we will have the opportunity to use the remaining nuclear power plants in the south if needed.
Shultz says: the government of this country has prepared a comprehensive aid package to support those who cannot cope with such a financial crisis.
The gas crisis in Europe has become much more intense since last week, when Russian gas exports to Europe through the important Nordstream 1 pipeline stopped indefinitely. Although the Russians continue to export gas to Europe through the pipeline through Ukraine, the amount is much lower compared to the volume of Russian gas exports before the Ukraine crisis.
In Germany, the lack of fuel has intensified concerns about the possible bankruptcy of gas distribution companies.
A few days ago, Klaus Dieter Maubach, the CEO of Uniper, Germany’s gas import company, warned that the country may be forced to ration gas in the winter season.
According to Goldman Sachs, quotas in Germany will mean the loss of 65% of the country’s industry.
According to official statistics, gas storage warehouses in Germany are now 85% full, but Klaus Müller, the secretary of the country’s energy policy body, warned last month that even if this figure reaches 95%, it will only last for two months. German gas demand will be sufficient.
