The Golden Globes were sold out

The Golden Globe Awards have been sold to a new owner that will shut down the Hollywood Foreign Press Association; A group that has been facing a lot of moral issues and lack of racial diversity in the last few years.

Charso Press: According to Reuters, Eldridge Industries has acquired the assets of the Golden Globes with Dick Clark Productions (DCP) and will continue to manage the telecast of the awards and focus on expanding its audience around the world.

The sale of the Golden Globe Awards to a new owner has taken place while the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) could not regain its past credibility due to issues surrounding ethical issues and the lack of racial diversity among its members, and even the American television network NBC broadcast the Golden Globes of the year. 2022 was not aired for these reasons.

An investigation by the Los Angeles Times in 2021 revealed that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has no black journalists in its ranks. Also, some members were accused of sexist and racist statements and illegal requests from celebrities and film studios.

However, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association responded to the criticism by expanding and racially diversifying its membership, as well as establishing new ethics policies.

Eldridge Industries President Todd Buhly plans to transform the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a nonprofit organization of international entertainment journalists, into a nonprofit venture. A spokesperson for the company said that all 310 current Golden Globe Awards voters will be eligible to vote for the next ceremony in January 2024.

“NBC” network broadcast the 2023 Golden Globe Awards after a year, but no network has announced its readiness to broadcast the 2024 ceremony.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association was a nonprofit organization of reporters and photographers who reported on the American entertainment industry for primarily foreign media markets. The organization is best known for launching and hosting the annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles and California each January, which honors significant achievements in film and television.
