The head of the cinematographic organization called for a revision plan for the production of documentary works

According to the Fars news agency, following the successful holding of the 17th International Truth Cinema Festival and the start of a new season of documentary cinema productions and the future needs of this cinema and the requests made by documentary makers at the conclusion of the Truth Cinema Festival; In a letter to Mohammad Hamidi Moghadam, the director of the Center for the Development of Documentary and Experimental Cinema and Animation, the head of the cinema organization demanded a comprehensive plan to increase the budget of documentary cinema productions with the aim of creating transformation and increasing the quality and quantity of documentary works in 1403.

This letter states:

Hello; Respectfully regarding the successful and magnificent holding of the 17th Iran International Documentary Festival (Truth Cinema), while thanking your Excellency and colleagues of the center; In order to continue the path and future of this field and realize a comprehensive plan for the transformation of documentary and experimental cinema based on the major plans announced by this center, the following are necessary:

1- In order to continue the two-year qualitative process, it is necessary to use effective and intelligent measures to further enhance the status of documentation with the elites and activists of this field, regarding the identification of new solutions for a more basic solution to the problems that are afflicting and intractable, especially in the field of limited resources and economic supports. Documentary cinema should be of consensus and consultation.

2- The new “issue-system” of the center, which is based on the essential requirements and needs of the society and is based on the discourse and path specified in the macro policies of the cinematographic organization in this specialized field, should be put into operation.

3- Considering the supportive view of Mr. Dr. Esmaili, the Honorable Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and his double determination and diligence in providing the requests and follow-ups of the cinema organization to increase the budget of documentary cinema in the perspective of the next year, it is appropriate to review and assess the needs and challenges of this field. to be

4- Due to the inflation and the increase in the rate of documentary film production in the current situation, it seems inevitable to modify the structure of the documentary film production estimate; Therefore, it is expected that, according to the concerns raised by some documentary makers at the end of the Cinema Truth Festival, new and efficient ways of attracting resources, facilitating the production process and developing the fields of national participation will be provided.

5- Since the honorable board of ministers, by approving a regulation, obliges the executive bodies to film documentaries of the country’s plans and projects, it is appropriate to use the capacities of this plan in order to promote the business and employment of the community of documentary makers, so that the platforms for the development of employment, flourishing and increase the dynamics of documentary cinema.

6- It is hoped that keeping in mind the above-mentioned points in order to adopt a targeted and strategic mechanism for “drawing the horizon ahead of this important and influential cinematic trend”, “quantitative and qualitative increase of productions” and “enhancement of resources, credits and professional leveling” more than before, we can witness the continuation of the growing trend, new developments and the elevation of documentary cinema.
