The import of passenger mobile phones from Iraq was temporarily banned

At the same time as the departure of Iranians to Iraq to participate in the Arbaeen procession is approaching, according to the decision of the Ministry of Silence and the Registry Working Group, the import of mobile phones from Iraq is temporarily prohibited and the registration of these phones will not be done at the entry points of the country.

A letter has been sent to all executive customs of the country regarding the ban on registering the mobile phone of an incoming passenger from Iraq in the period 10 to 31 September informs

This announcement was sent by the Vice President for Prevention of the Central Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Currency; He announces that the ban was adopted based on the approvals of the registry working group of the ministry of privacy, the letter of the deputy security and law enforcement of the ministry of interior and the head of Arbain’s central headquarters.

In this letter, the customs and its subsidiaries are asked to provide appropriate information in this regard, such as installing a banner at the entry and exit points of Iraq, and refrain from registering the mobile phone information of a passenger from Iraq in the relevant systems.

Considering that nearly 5 million Iranian pilgrims are expected to attend the Arbaeen procession, it seems that the above ban was taken to prevent the consequences of passenger importation of phones during these days. Considering that for some time no foreign currency has been allocated for the import of mobile phones above 600 dollars, the large-scale import of phones from Iraq can have a great impact on the exchange rate because the currency for the import of these phones will be supplied from the open market. There is also the possibility of exploiting Iranian buyers in Iraq.

But apart from this, pilgrims who intend to attend the Arbaeen walk should be more careful about their identity information. Not long ago, the spokesperson of the anti-trafficking headquarters also warned people to be careful when buying these models of phones, because during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, some profiteers use pilgrims’ identity information to register smuggled phones: “Some offenders with Abusing the identity information of pilgrims while returning to the country, they buy SIM cards in their name and register for smuggled phones. Visitors should be careful about their identity information.
