The tourism industry as the most diverse and largest industry in the world, the most important source of income and job opportunities for many It is one of the countries in the world. This industry, which is mentioned as the engine of development, has received more and more attention due to its economic and social importance, and governments pay attention to it. It is rapid in the economic development of the world, which can directly and indirectly affect other economic and cultural activities by creating the highest amount of added value.
In the global division after oil and automobile manufacturing, the tourism industry ranks third.
The tourism industry is very important in two main ways, firstly, it provides nations with familiarity with other cultures, races, ethnicities, lands, dialects, and secondly, it is economically considered as a source of income and currency.
Different countries of the world, in the shadow of having various facilities and attractions, seek to attract tourists to themselves.
Tourism is currently becoming one of the main pillars of the world trade economy, and many development planners and policymakers cite the tourism industry as a key pillar of sustainable development.
The tourism industry with its special characteristics is considered a dynamic industry with a bright future. Investment in this industry is increasing in all countries with tourist attractions.
Today, attracting foreign tourists has become increasingly competitive among the institutions involved in the tourism industry, because this industry not only plays a role in promoting the national economy and foreign exchange earnings, but also a clean and pollution-free industry and at the same time creates new jobs.
Tourism for countries with tourist attractions such as Iran can become the most important source of foreign exchange earnings. Provided that proper and comprehensive planning with foresight is set and implemented for it.
Unfortunately, in our country, the tourism industry has not expanded and developed as it should. Although all development programs in recent years have emphasized the need to get rid of the monopoly economy based on oil exports, in practice, there has been no tangible and tangible success in this area.
The growth and development of the tourism industry in Iran as one of the practical ways to get rid of the mono-product economy and diversification of the country’s revenue sources should be given more attention by the country’s planners and policy makers.
Undoubtedly, today the tourism industry as a global industry has grown rapidly in the world economy, as a result of increasing annual growth rate of global GDP, exports, global trade and services, the share of international tourists in global economic activity has also steadily increased.
Global investment in the tourism industry indicates that industrial tourism is one of the income-distributing industries, and when a tourist enters the country, he has to pay for the services provided to him, and this will be in foreign currency, so this industry can be an alternative. A mono-product economy means oil revenue. The fact that today it is observed that the industrialized countries of Europe and the United States use all their strength and power to attract tourists, confirms the position of this industry in the economy, the income from sustainable tourism and at the same time it can be exploited in the short term. Also, job creation in this industry is high and the required manpower does not need long-term training.
The facilities available in Iran show that Iran has the capacity to receive more than 2 to 3 million foreign tourists per year, and this industry will be the most important option for foreign exchange earnings in the country after the oil industry. Because Iran has a very exceptional and privileged position in terms of attracting tourists in these cases, which will lead to huge foreign exchange earnings, and tourists’ favorite topics can be found in Iran, including beautiful nature with special climatic and climatic characteristics, cultured people. And ancient civilization, customs and traditions and ancient and Islamic and very old places with a unique architectural style that can be found in few countries.
On the other hand, Iran is one of the five most important countries in the world in the present era, where ancient works and customs and traditions exist to a considerable extent and is the only country in which the tourism industry can be easily accepted with all these tourist attractions.
Based on the experiences gained in this field, some of the tourism industry stakeholders believe that each tourist who enters the country is equal to the export of hundreds of barrels of oil to Iran, and to achieve this important and vital participation of all stakeholders in tourism. And demands the tourism industry.
Urban tourism is the most important way for municipalities to earn money, depending on the tolls from construction and the like.
Municipalities will continue to face revenue problems by continuing in this way. For sustainable income generation, investing in different areas and turnover in different areas is the most appropriate solution.
One of the areas in which “municipal investment funds” can make money is the “tourism sector”.
The growth of short-term travel has made the related tourist destinations one of the main tourist centers, and it is attractive for urbanites to know the areas and tourist attractions. In recent years, citizens’ lack of confidence in the services provided by private companies and tourism agencies has created a less favorable atmosphere, and the municipality can use this opportunity to use the experiences of other countries in this field, to plan short-term travel within the city and to provide This type of service to citizens.
Given that the potential for tourism development is no longer hidden from anyone, it is worthwhile for municipalities to take a more specialized and serious look at this issue.
