The iPhone 15 chip will probably use up to 35% less power

The A17 chip of the iPhone 15 will consume less energy

According to Liu, TSMC’s 3nm chips will be faster than before, and their energy efficiency will also increase by 35%. However, Liu did not mention how much faster these chips are compared to 4 and 5 nm samples.

Typically, each generation of Apple’s A-series chips comes with a 10 to 25 speed increase, but we can’t easily estimate how much power consumption will decrease. But according to TSMC, the A17 Bionic chip will probably consume up to 35% less energy, although this will not mean a 35% reduction in iPhone 15 energy consumption; Because many factors such as the screen play a role in this field.

According to TSMC, there is high demand for the company’s 3nm chips, but the buyers of these chips were not named. However, we know that Apple is TSMC’s biggest customer, and 26% of TSMC’s revenues in 2021 came from Apple.
