Fereydoun Mohammadi told reporters on Saturday: During the recent visit of the Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts to Alborz, the issue of national and international registration of the Karaj-Chalos axis as one of the important axes of the country’s tourism was raised and emphasized.

Mohammadi pointed out that this beautiful road belongs to all the people of Iran and has recorded many memories for the people from the past until now, adding: the indiscriminate constructions for many years, the creation of administrative, industrial and even tourism facilities have caused a lot of damage to The privacy and scenery of the historical-natural axis of the Karaj-Chalos road has entered.

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Alborz Province said: The preservation and maintenance of the Karaj-Chalos road as a historical-natural axis is very important, while there are very valuable historical and natural works on the side of this road.

He continued: The presence of 56 villages with unique natural and historical attractions on the outskirts of Karaj-Chalos in the geographical area of ​​Alborz province is one of the characteristics of this tourist road.

Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Alborz, pointing out that the Karaj-Chalus road is shared between Alborz and Mazandaran provinces, said: A joint committee should be formed for this issue.

According to historical documents, the design and mapping of Karaj-Chalos road was done in 1309, and the executive operation of this road started in mid-May of 1310, and it was opened and put into operation on December 10, 1312.

The Karaj-Chalos road starts from the side of Karaj at an altitude of 1,400 meters above the sea level towards the north, and on the way, at the point of Gachsar, it is 66 kilometers on the way to an altitude of 2,251 meters and

At the highest point, the Kandavan peak, it has reached a height of 3,200 meters above sea level; From there, this road will decrease in height towards Mazandaran in Dona in 95 km at an altitude of 2,468 meters, in Makaroud in 126 km at an altitude of 760 meters and in Chalus city at an altitude of 75 meters from the sea level.

This road is about 160 kilometers long, half of which is in Alborz province and half in Mazandaran province.

The Karaj-Chalos road is one of the busiest roads in the country, especially during the last days of Vayam week.
