The municipality concludes a clean contract with domestic automakers

Eqtesadonline – Parasto Bahrami Rad; These days, public attack and transportation in Tehran is not favorable. Most public transportation from taxis, buses and subways has been minimized and the citizens of Tehran have to wait for hours for public transportation. In this regard, it was previously announced that public transportation needs to be replaced and repurchased.
Jafar Tashkari Hashemi, head of the Transportation Commission of the Tehran City Council, said regarding the transportation conditions in Tehran: “We have not stopped working on the supply of new taxis and we have not waited for the import of foreign cars and we have done the renovation.”
He further explained: Renovation is done gradually according to the contracts we have with Iran Khodro. A number of cars are renovated every month, and whether they give permission to import foreign cars or not, this process continues.
The head of the Tehran City Council Transportation Commission stated: About 4,000 taxis have reached the age of wear and tear, and the owners have expressed their desire to renovate, and renovation operations have begun, and in the last ten months, about 2,500 vehicles have been renovated.
Tashkari Hashemi also said about importing cars to complete the taxi fleet: “We will certainly not neglect the option of imported cars and the parliament has notified the government about its decision on importing cars.” The municipality and the city council should follow up with the government to allocate a significant share of these imported cars to taxi drivers.
The head of the Transportation Commission of the City Council, referring to the problems of subway cars, stated: Unfortunately, we are still involved in 15% of the government advance payment, and this has not happened yet.
Regarding the efforts of Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, to buy a subway car through oil purification, Hashemi said: The government has pursued an option so that it can purify oil with some goods. However, oil is not in the hands of the municipality, which has the authority to do so, and to receive subway cars in exchange for oil requires government approval, and this must be done by government systems.
“Everything is waiting for the government’s approval,” he said. In the first phase, 630 wagons were to be imported, and this requires a 15% down payment, which is close to one million dollars, and this has not happened to date. However, the municipality and the council are following up, and we hope that this will happen as soon as possible. In any case, the government has promised the city administration to provide this 15%, but this issue must be pursued independently.
A member of the Tehran City Council went on to discuss the issue of preparing new buses and clarified: Regarding the provision of buses, several issues have been raised. The first issue is that our domestic manufacturers have the capacity to produce buses. In fact, we look at domestic production first, and we think that if the necessary support is provided, the domestic producer will be able to provide buses.
He added: “In the current situation, we can use the cooperation of some car manufacturers, including Iran Khodro Diesel, and sign a contract, because they already have experience in producing buses, and we can count on cooperation with them in this matter.”
He went on to say that domestic buses have the necessary safety, he said: There are problems with domestically produced passenger cars, but domestically produced buses have been present in the city for years and have not had any problems to date and can be of quality and durability. They have acceptance.
Tashkari Hashemi clarified: Tehran Municipality should buy cash from domestic automakers and it seems unlikely that this will be possible. But according to the conversations that the municipality and the city council have with Iran Khodro Diesel and other car manufacturers, the type of payment for them is not different. In fact, we can use other financial models such as cleanliness to modernize Tehran’s bus fleet and try to operationalize the issue in our meetings with the municipality, and finally provide the necessary resources by cleaning the property or other methods of the Tehran municipality.
