The narration of the late Kyomarth Pourahmad about why artists die

Kyomarth Pourahmad said that his last appearance in the cinema was his vacant place in last year’s Fajr Festival and the press conference of his film.

Charso Press: This prominent cinematographer, who has created lasting works in cinema, made the movie “The File is Open” in 1401; The film that was screened at the Fajr Festival without his presence, and it was said at the press conference of the film on 14th of Bahman that “The Case is Open” will be the last film of this director. Although usually these decisions are not serious, but with the end of Pourahmad’s life, his filmmaking career was closed forever.

In 1400, he said about his last film: My new film is not a crime, unlike what is published these days, and as it is written in the production permit on the website of the Ministry of Guidance, it is a social melodrama, and I don’t know why they wrote that I want to make a crime film. ! I did not even have a sequence to show a drop of blood and draw a gun in the “Clues” series, which was a police series, how can I make a crime film!

“The case is open” deals with the issue of murder by a teenager and also depicted the media environment by playing the role of a reporter. In the press conference of the film, this issue became the basis for a series of critical questions, which the producer (Ali Qaimmaqami) explained in this regard by pointing out that the script had been approved by the judiciary: this film shows a story from 1390, in which It was not all the news agencies and channels. Another point is that the story is based on the law of that year. The law was changed in 1392 and because of this, we say at the beginning of the film that the story of this film takes place 11 years ago.

The director of the films “Shab Yalda” and “Khuhran Gharib” made various comments on cinematic and social events during these years. He, who always complained about the many audits, said in 2014 at the memorial ceremony of the deceased artists: “We grow old cruelly.” Omissions are killing us and killing us. If we die at the age of 90, we have died young. Most of the deaths of artists are in middle age, everyone gets old and dies.

He told ISNA in July 2019: I am very busy writing a story. I emphasize the story, not the script. Writing this story has overwhelmed me so much that I haven’t read a book or seen a movie in a long time. Writing for me, who is allergic to the Persian language, is very painful and done with extreme obsession, and of course, it is also enjoyable as much as it is painful.
