Abbasi named land fragmentation and soil erosion as the most important problems in the agricultural sector and said: these become a factor for lowering the yield and quality of agricultural products.

He also named soil degradation as an important factor in reducing water penetration, increasing floods, migration, climate change and global warming and said: “Unfortunately, soil degradation has become the biggest problem in the agricultural sector in the past decades.”

Stating that 95% of the country’s food is obtained directly and indirectly from the soil, Abbasi said: It takes a thousand years to form one centimeter of soil, so due to this importance, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO has set the World Soil Day. Is.

The deputy director of water and soil of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad emphasized: There is a vacuum in the field of soil guidelines and regulations and expressed hope that these guidelines will be formulated by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

He called the lack of integrated governance for sustainable soil management as the main challenge and said: administrative dispersion in the field of soil causes irreparable losses.

He also emphasized that the promotion of soil protection should be considered important and said: “An instruction in this field has been prepared and will be implemented soon.”
