The new position of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency – Mehr News Agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, the quarterly meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency began in Vienna with the presence of representatives of 35 member countries of this council.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stated at the meeting of the Council of Governors about Iran’s nuclear program that the process of implementing the joint statement with Iran in the field of safeguards issues has started and progress has been made in this field.

He claimed: some progress has been made, but it is not the desired one and it is part of what we wanted.

He added: In early May, the agency installed surveillance cameras in facilities where centrifuge equipment is produced. In addition, in order to monitor the level of enrichment of uranium produced by Iran at the declared facilities, the Agency has installed an enrichment monitoring device for the first time at the Fordow plant and also at the Natanz fuel enrichment pilot plant.

These measures will help us more quickly identify any changes in enrichment levels at these facilities, Grossi said.

He claimed that the progress made was not as much as he had hoped.

What needs to happen now is a sustained and uninterrupted process that will lead to the fulfillment of all the commitments contained in the joint statement without further delay, Grossi declared.

It should be noted that in this meeting, which continues until Friday, various issues related to nuclear safety, the implementation of the safeguard agreement and the strengthening of the Agency’s scientific and research activities are on the agenda.

This meeting, as in previous periods, deals with nuclear activities in North Korea, Syria, as well as the ECOS security agreement. Nuclear propulsion in Brazil is one of the new issues that have been added to the council’s agenda.

The issue of Iran is one of the topics mentioned in the agenda of the Council according to the previous meetings, and the verification and inspection of Iran’s nuclear activities is supposed to be examined in the light of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 and the implementation of the safeguards agreement.

The meeting of this period is being held while constructive interactions between Iran and the IAEA regarding the resolution of the alleged safeguard issues have failed the project of emboldening the West against the peaceful nuclear program of our country staged by the Zionist regime.
