According to Fars News Agency’s visual reporter, the funeral ceremony for Morteza Mamiz on the occasion of the artist’s 18th anniversary was held on Friday, December 24, in the presence of Mohammad Mahdi Asgarpour, the CEO of the House of Artists, and a group of great people of graphic art at the House of Iranian Artists.
At the beginning of this program, Anoushirvan Mamiz said about the opening of the exhibition of the works of prominent artists and introduced 3 exhibitions of works by Mustafa Asdalahi, posters of Alkanader Deimos (French artist), and Mark Gauning (Australian artist) in the galleries of Master Mamiz.
Mohammad Mehdi Asgharpour, the CEO of Artists’ House, said: I came here on behalf of the associations that are members of the Supreme Council of Artists’ House. I would like to thank the family of Ostad Mamiz, who are the sponsors of this event, so that those interested in this great teacher can gather.
He added: The relationship between the professor and the house of artists is undeniable. We remember this teacher every day. This honorable man was one of the founders of the House of Artists. The idea that the inspector is not present is an absurd idea. Good luck to people like us who lived in a period where he was present.
Introducing Iranian graphics to Europeans
Ebrahim Haghighi, a graphic designer, gave a speech in the continuation of this program and said: One of Morteza Memeez’s efforts was to introduce Iranian graphics to Europe. Iran’s graphics are known as world leading graphics and this was nothing but the efforts of Morteza Memeez. We owe them with pride.
He continued: Mustafa Asdalahi was always by Morteza Memiz’s side. Although Mustafa Asdalahi does not live in Iran, he has a strong presence in Iranian graphics, as you will see in the exhibition. These are the lessons that we artists learned from Morteza Mamiz. Cultural work had no eyes and the salary of work requires continuity, which the students of Morteza Mamiz do well.
In a part of this program, the talks of Alexander Deimos (French artist) whose works are present in the exhibition were broadcasted.
Morteza Mameez’s connection with the greats of French graphics
Roman Ethel, France’s cultural adviser in Iran, said: I am trying to speak a few words in Persian. I am very happy to be among you to honor the memory of Morteza Mamiz during the exhibition. Mr. Mamiz is the father of contemporary Iranian graphics and taught different generations.
He stated: Mr. Mamiz had a special relationship with France and spent most of his education in Paris. During his professional life, he had a professional bond and deep friendship with the greats of French graphics. I don’t know this teacher closely, but I am sure that if they were here, they would be proud of holding an exhibition of these 3 artists.
In the continuation of this program, a video of Mustafa Asdalahi was broadcast. Mustafa Asdalahi is one of the masters of graphic design, whose activities include designing the logo of Channel Six, Esteghlal Club, Asia Insurance and various posters.
Morteza Mamiz was a graphic designer, illustrator and university professor in Iran. Mamiz is also called the father of contemporary Iranian graphic art. He has left lasting works in the field of poster design, page layout and book and magazine cover design.
It should be noted that at the end, an exhibition of the works of prominent artists was opened. It is worth mentioning that this exhibition will host the interested parties until December 4.
