The reaction of the White House to the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza

The White House strategic communications coordinator, John Kirby, said on Monday that US President Joe Biden welcomed the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza.

Speaking at the White House press conference, he added: “The approach we have taken with Israel and our partners in the region has worked, and we will continue to call for the protection of civilians.”

“We will urge the Israelis not to harm civilians during their military operations,” Kirby said.

The coordinator of strategic communications of the White House expressed hope that in the next two days some Americans will be among the released prisoners in Gaza.

After the end of the four-day ceasefire, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced that the humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza has been extended for another two days.

While confirming this agreement, the Hamas movement emphasized: We agreed with the Egyptian and Qatari brothers on the extension of the temporary ceasefire for another two days with the same conditions as before.

The desire of the Israeli regime to extend the ceasefire in Gaza comes at a time when experts even inside occupied Palestine doubt the possibility of the regime succeeding in achieving its war goals in Gaza.

Ronin Shikler, an Israeli writer and analyst, compared and compared the current war in Gaza with the 1982 war in Lebanon, and wrote that the result of this war will also be failure.

On the other hand, many experts consider Israel’s goal to eliminate Hamas to be very ambitious and impossible to achieve operationally.
