The real story of “Flight from Kabul” is filmed



Afghan director Sahra Karimi has announced the production of a film based on the story of fleeing her country, produced by Katayoun Shahabi.

Theater News Base: Sahra Karimi, director and director of the Afghan National Film Institute, who fled Afghanistan following the recent developments, announced the making of a film about the real and terrifying story of fleeing her country.

The film, entitled “Flight from Kabul”, tells the terrifying 40 hours from August 15, 2011 and the arrival of the Taliban in Kabul until Sahra Karimi finally managed to leave Afghanistan with her family, first to Istanbul and then to Kiev. Move in Ukraine.

“I want to show the whole world that everything was normal and one day it was like always, but suddenly everything fell apart,” the Afghan filmmaker said of the film.

Iranian producer Katayun Shahabi, who also produced Karimi’s first feature film, “Eve, Mary, Ayesha,” will co-produce “Flight from Kabul” with Adamik Herikova, president of the Slovak Film and Television Academy.

Sahra Karimi, as a special guest at the 78th Venice Film Festival, spoke yesterday about the role of international cinema in raising public awareness of the current situation of people and artists in Afghanistan: “I call on the international cinema community to be our voice and “Don’t forget us, we are talented and hardworking and we have stories to tell and we can be part of the world community.”
