The request of the Ministry of Communications to remove the Google Play filter was rejected

As the government spokesperson says, the Ministry of Communications has requested several times to remove the Google Play filter, but the working group to determine criminal cases has rejected it.

Since last year, the Google Play application store is still filtered, and Android phone users in Iran must use alternative application stores such as Bazaar to download the applications they need. But as you probably know, Iranian stores have to comply with the country’s filtering laws, and for this reason, it is not possible to download and install filtered messengers and social networks such as Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram through them.

This restriction has provided a platform for profiteers to take full advantage of users’ ignorance and steal users’ personal and banking information by releasing malware and fake versions of applications. In this regard, the spokesperson of the government, Ali Bahadri Jahormi, in his latest speech, has mentioned the issue of removing the Google Play filter and the government’s request to the task force to determine criminal cases to remove the filter of this application store.

It is not possible to fix the Google Play filter

Fixing the Google Play filter is disabled

As Jahormi says, the Ministry of Communications has requested several times from the relevant working group to remove the Google Play filter, but apparently the members of this group have not reached the necessary conclusion for this task. This official says that the government believes that the country’s filtering procedure and structure should be changed and block as many platforms as possible. In fact, the government’s opinion is that there should be laws regarding the activities of foreign platforms in the country, and whoever intends to operate, should have set up a legal office and official representation in the country, so that in case of violation of individual or collective rights, it is possible Follow it up.

Therefore, it seems that until foreign platforms (both messengers and social networks and the Google Play app store) are established in the country and do not have a representative office, it is unlikely that they will be unfiltered.
