The request of the Ministry of Security to remove the restriction on the import of phones above 600 dollars

The Ministry of Security believes that the rules created for the import of phones above 600 dollars have affected the market of such mobile phones. Therefore, during the correspondence with the Central Bank, it has been requested to remove the restriction on the import of these phones with the currency obtained from the export.

According to Digiato report and quoted by Tasnim, “Mohsen Shekrallahi”, the director general of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, has raised some points about the organization of the mobile phone market in a letter with the head of the deputy director of regulations and planning of the Central Bank.

This official in charge of the Ministry of Security believes that the rules created regarding the import of mobile phones above 600 dollars have had serious effects on the price of such goods and the loss of pricing order in the market.

During the recent months, it was possible to import phones above 600 dollars only with the currency obtained from the export, which the ministry of secrecy caused the lack of transparency in the purchase and sale of export currency due to the lack of alignment of trade (importer and exporter) and the lack of transparency of the exchange rate of goods from the place of export. self-aware

In this regard, some suggestions have been made to regulate the market:

1- Removing the restriction of importing mobile phones with a value of more than 600 dollars only from the place of export and making it possible to buy this model of phones in the second hall.
2- Considering the history of mobile phone imports as an average of 2 years 1400 and 1401 for the coming year
3- Carrying out specialized classification of importers of mobile phones and tablets
4- Taking into account the history of importing tablets in the amount of 4 times the total history of the last two years
5- Inclusion of checking the history of imports to provide currency from the place of export in the mobile phone product

Now we have to wait and see how the central bank will react to these proposals.

It should be mentioned that not long ago, the Mobile Importers Association requested that the currency of all mobile phones be provided from the source of the Central Bank’s new system (exchange center) and 26 commodity group. This means that the semi-currency for phones below 600 dollars has also been removed, but the mobile currency above 600 dollars should be provided with a currency other than the currency of its own export.
