The review of the implementation of safeguards in Iran began at the meeting of the Board of Governors – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

According to the Mehr news agency, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to international organizations in Vienna, announced in a Twitter message on Wednesday that a review of the implementation of safeguards in Iran had begun at a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors has begun examining the issue of “nuclear verification: NPT safeguards agreement with Iran,” according to a Twitter message from Russia’s representative to international organizations in Vienna.

The message added: “The German representative has just presented a resolution on this issue.” The relevance of this draft in the current context is highly questionable.

In this regard, Reuters had previously claimed that the United States and the European Troika had prepared a draft anti-Iran resolution to be presented at the next meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to Reuters, in the text of the draft resolution, Western countries are asking the Islamic Republic of Iran to answer the Agency’s questions regarding the discovery of uranium traces found on its three sites.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman also said: “I have seen the relevant reports. China opposes efforts by countries to pressure Iran through the IAEA Board of Governors to pass a resolution. The facts have repeatedly shown that pressure can not solve any problem, but only aggravates the tension and complicates the situation.

Lijian called the Vienna talks on the revival of the IAEA at a critical juncture, stressing that confrontational moves on the IAEA Board of Governors would only undermine cooperation between Iran and the IAEA and disrupt the negotiation process.
