The risk of extinction of the Iranian bear due to human interference/certain statistics of the few remaining species of bears are not available!

According to the social reporter of Moj News Agency, it was just a few days ago that the news of the discovery of two Baluchi bear cubs in a passenger bus by Gonabad police station was published. Perhaps this is not the only news about the killing and trapping of various animal species in recent years, which is heard from every corner and arouses everyone’s surprise. Statistical studies show that since 2010, 66 bear collars have been killed directly by humans in Iran. Destruction Natural resources, destruction of water resources, mountain eating, destruction of mines and killing animals, etc. are topics that become the headlines of social and press media at some point of time and are completely forgotten after a while. Heartbreaking events that definitely affect the role of education and the approach of managers to the environment It is undeniable in preventing its occurrence.
The role of bears in biological balance
Only among the eight species of bears in the world, two species of brown and black Asian bears live in Iran, which unfortunately are on the red list of the International Union for Environmental Protection and are on the verge of extinction. The place of this animal is in the biological balance and even the climate, which is why today in most parts of the world it is considered an accepted thing for the general society, and in most of these countries this animal is not only supported, but in such societies, peaceful coexistence with this Creatures are taught in the micro and macro education system. Brown and black bears feed on plants and smaller carnivores and avoid humans as much as possible. In fact, by eating the seeds of mountain plants, the bear causes the growth of trees and forest species. Also, another role of the bear is to control the population of rodents, herbivores and other small carnivores. If their population increases, not only the animal and plant environment, but also the human environment will be endangered.
The story of bear killing and collective reactions to it
The killing of a mother bear along with her two cubs in 2013 attracted many reactions. This incident happened in the city of Semiram, the habitat of the brown bear, which was the first collective reaction to the environmental issue, which created many media dimensions. This incident may be considered the first public reaction to the incident of the bear being killed. Although there are no exact statistics of the number of bears killed in the country, but based on some statistics, since that year, around 66 brown and black bears have been killed by humans in Iran.

Management approach in preventing environmental problems
Hunting to sell skins and use body parts, collisions with passing vehicles on roads and killing bears with poisoned bait and guns to prevent damage to gardens and beehives are the most important causes of bear deaths in Iran. The role of education and environmental organization in protecting animals is not hidden from anyone. Unfortunately, in recent years in the country, the technical approach to solve all social and environmental issues has prevailed and still is. In addition, the budget of this important institution has never been appropriate for this organization, its performance and services. Also, education textbooks have a very small contribution to environmental education, which has been proven many times in numerous researches and content analysis of these books. Unfortunately, there is currently no comprehensive plan to protect the remaining of these valuable species under study and implementation. Preservation of these valuable species requires comprehensive expert study and planning and strict implementation of this program in all bear habitats in the country, otherwise there will be no bright future for Iran’s bears. Therefore, conducting comprehensive studies and understanding the behavior of bears, identifying and protecting the natural habitats of bears, compensating gardeners and local people for the losses caused by bear profit, training and culturalization in local communities of bear habitats, increasing fines and severity of dealing with the perpetrators of bear killings. It is one of the things that can be effective in preserving this valuable species.
