The Ryzen 5 7725HS laptop processor was seen with Zen2 cores

Recently, an 8-core processor based on the Zen2 architecture named AMD Ryzen 5 7725HS has been seen on the Geekbench database. The Geekbench database software recognizes this processor from the Renoir series and the product name also confirms that this processor is based on the Zen 2 architecture. This processor is strange in its own way, because 7×25 series processors have not been seen anywhere else until now, and even AMD company did not mention this series at the official presentation ceremony of Ryzen 7000 laptop processors.
AMD Ryzen 5 7725HS processor specifications
According to the information available on the Geekbench database, the AMD Ryzen 5 7725HS processor has a base frequency of 2.9 GHz and a boost frequency of 4.3 GHz. The HS extension in this processor indicates that it is originally designed for light gaming laptops, of which the Eluktronics RP-15 laptop – the test platform of this processor – is one of them. This platform and this chassis were used by Eluktronics alongside the Ryzen 4000 Renoir processors and could also be ordered with a discrete RTX 20 graphics card. Of course, our test system is only equipped with integrated graphics.

This processor managed to get a single-core score of 1106 and a multi-core score of 6929 in the Geekbench benchmark. The processor that can be directly compared with this processor is the Ryzen 7 4800HS processor, which was based on the Zen 2 architecture, had 8 cores, and its energy consumption was limited to 35 watts, and the only difference with this processor is the frequency Its increase was 4.2 GHz. According to the benchmark results, the Ryzen 5 7725HS processor is 6 and 6.5% faster than the Ryzen 7 4800HS processor, respectively.

As we said earlier, the Ryzen 7x25H/HS series processors were not seen at the official presentation ceremony of Ryzen 7000 laptop processors. The only Zen 2 processors that AMD introduced were the Ryzen 7×20/U Mendocino series processors. With this in mind, Ryzen 7000 laptop processors include almost all generations of the Zen architecture. The reason why AMD is doing this is not easy to analyze and is complex.
