The Ryzen 7 Pro 7840HS processor was spotted on Geekbench

AMD is going to release Phoenix laptop APUs based on Zen 4 and RDNA 3 architectures by the end of this month. It is true that the launch of these processors has been delayed, but on the other hand, there was no news of Ryzen PRO 7000 processors for this series and AMD did not confirm the existence of these processors. But as it seems, two other processors under this series named Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS and Ryzen 7 PRO 7840HS there are. These processors are 8-core processors that have been developed specifically for industrial laptops and workstations, and are usually used with a discrete graphics card.

Ryzen 7 Pro 7840HS CPU on Geekbench

It’s been a few weeks since HP updated its ZBook FireFly 14 G10 series of workstation laptops with Raptor Lake-P and Raptor Lake-HX processors. These laptops can be ordered with NVIDIA RTX A500 graphics cards. But since AMD delayed the release of Ryzen 7000 Phoenix APUs, there is still no news of models equipped with AMD processors. Of course, the Ryzen PRO logo can be seen on HP’s website and it shows that this laptop is going to be equipped with new AMD processors.

Recently, the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 PRO 7840 processor has been spotted on Geekbench with this laptop. The Ryzen PRO 7000 processors are a family of Phoenix APUs, and this is the first time we’ve met one of the processors in this series. According to the Geekbench specification table, this processor has a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and a boost frequency of 5.0 GHz, but its maximum frequency reaches 5.1 GHz, which is the same frequency as the non-Pro version.

The Ryzen 7 PRO 7840 managed to achieve a single-core score of 1846 and a multi-core score of 10421 on Geekbench, a score that none of the Intel processors on the Geekbench database come close to. However, keep in mind that Intel’s Raptor Lake-HX processors are not present on this database and this comparison is not very accurate. However, we can expect very good technical performance from Ryzen PRO processors.
