Iran’s Chargé d’affaires in London announced the return of the Sassanid soldier statue that was smuggled into England.
According to Moj news agency, Iran’s Chargé d’affaires in London announced that the statue of a Sassanid soldier that was smuggled into England was officially handed over to the Iranian Embassy in London on Friday.
Seyyed Mahdi Hosseini Mateen wrote in a tweet:
The statue of a Sassanid soldier that was smuggled into England was handed over to Iran after it was proved that it belongs to Iran, and after it was displayed on loan at the British Museum for three months.
He continued: This valuable ancient work was officially delivered to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London today, and God willing, it will be sent to the dear Islamic homeland soon.
