The second “Shahrzad Theater” festival will be held

Theater News Base: The second festival “Shahrzad Theater” with the design and secretary of Masoud Delkhah with the theme of “theater and performance art in Iran” will be held in two parts: text-based plays and performance art.

The second “Shahrzad Theater” festival with the aim of activating the talents and energies hidden in the artists of the time coronavirusHelping to spread theatrical culture, supporting valuable theatrical texts and providing appropriate conditions for the introduction and public performance of the best works.

The first “Shahrzad Theater” festival was held from 20 to 24 July 1397 under the chairmanship of Shahrzad Jafari. Nader Borhani Marand, Massoud Delkhah and Navid Mohammadzadeh were the judges of the first “Shahrzad Theater” festival.

The text of the call published for this period of the festival also reads as follows:

Festival sections:

A) Execution of text-based plays

B) Performance art performance

In order to comply with maximum hygiene guidelines and to avoid unnecessary crowds in the performance, the festival encourages groups to perform less crowded.

Subject: According to the national laws and within the cultural atmosphere of the society and according to the goals of the festival, the subject of plays and performances is free and has no special restrictions.

Aims and approaches of the festival:

1- Activating the dormant force and energy hidden in the artists of the time coronavirus And applying cultural and artistic ideas and talents in a healthy and creative atmosphere.

2- Helping to spread the culture of theater and performing arts at the national level through the public performance of selected works in Tehran and other cities.

3- Creating creative opportunities for professional and amateur artists in order to create new works of art according to the coronary conditions of society and the world and to share creativity and artistic innovations with the audience.

4- Supporting valuable and thought-provoking theatrical texts in text-based plays, while emphasizing the diversity of the approach to performance and achieving various and new performance methods in performances.

5 – Providing appropriate conditions for the introduction and public performance of selected works in order to familiarize the audience with new methods of performance.

Conditions for participating in the festival:

1. Each artist is only allowed to send one work to the festival.

– Send six copies of the performance DVD by mail to the Secretariat

2- The performance time of text-based shows is a maximum of 90 minutes and performances are a maximum of 45 minutes.

3. In Section A, plays can be Iranian or non-Iranian, and the director is free to choose the genre and style of performance.

4 – Scene design (both in text-based shows and performances) should be based on the minimum use of decor and bulky objects and be portable.

5. Each artist is allowed to use all or some of the following arts and facilities independently or in combination to perform his performance:

* Types of literary forms (poetry, stories, plays, monologues, dialogues, narrations)

* Types of music (classical and traditional, pop, rock, rap, opera, etc.)

* Types of movements (ritual movements, rhythmic movements, ballet, acrobatic and martial movements)

* Types of languages ​​and dialects (according to the necessity of implementation)

* Types of styles and methods of execution (independent or combined, depending on the purpose of execution)

* Use movies, slides, paintings and visual arts

* The use of narration, taziyeh, physical theater, etc.

1- Three selected performances of the festival: each performance 7 million Tomans cash prize and the possibility of 10 nights of free performance.

2- Three performance performers (actors) selected by the festival: 5 million Tomans cash prize per person.

Festival side workshops:

During the festival and for the first time, Shahrzad Theater Campus will hold professional workshops in 5 disciplines and a roundtable with the presence of prominent professors of art disciplines.

* Round table “Border line and the essential differences and form of theater and performing arts” is also held.
