The Secretary General of the United Nations called for an authentic and transparent investigation into the Beirut port explosion

United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Friday local time: The Secretary-General wants a credible and transparent investigation that will bring justice to the victims of the explosion.
He clarified: Two years have passed since this incident, and during these two years, all the people of Lebanon, especially the families of the victims, have been directly affected, and justice has not yet been achieved for them.
In August 2019 (August 4, 2020), a terrible and catastrophic explosion rocked the port of Beirut, killing 221 people and injuring more than 6,000 others.
After the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon entered a political crisis, which led to the resignation of the Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab’s government following the protests, and since then, the country has entered into a cabinet formation crisis.
Many analysts and experts on regional issues declared this regime and its agents to be the culprit of the explosion of this port; An explosion that took place in a warehouse containing 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate in the port of Beirut caused many buildings around the port to be completely destroyed.
The governor of Beirut announced that the amount of damages caused by this explosion is more than 10 billion dollars.
Following this explosion, a number of Lebanese officials, including the director general of customs, the director general of the port, and a number of other related officials were arrested on charges of negligence in this disaster, all of them from the March 14 movement in Lebanon.
Also, by the special judicial investigator handling this case, the captain and the owner of the Moldavian “Resus” ship, who was announced to have transported this cargo of ammonium nitrate to the port of Beirut and left it several years ago, were arrested as two non-Lebanese foreigners. was issued
In late September of last year (1400), the Lebanese authorities announced the discovery of 20 tons of the dangerous chemical substance “ammonium nitrate” in the “Balabak” region. This is the same substance that caused a terrible explosion in the port of Beirut last year.
Al-Akhbar newspaper in Lebanon also reported on 29 September last year that the owner of the truck carrying these materials was related to Ibrahim and Maroun al-Saqr. The Lebanese media consider these two to be related to the Lebanese Forces party led by Samir Geagea, a Christian politician close to Saudi Arabia.
