The status of “insurances” by changing the currency exchange system of the drug

Shahram Ghaffari in a conversation with the Iran Economist, In this regard, he stated: with the change of the currency exchange system of the drug, the price of the drug will increase about four times; In some parts it will be less and in some it will be more, but it has been decided that the government will provide the basic insurance organizations with the equivalent of Rials for changing the currency exchange system, in which case the out-of-pocket payment for medicines will certainly remain the same.

The Director General of Indirect Treatment of the Social Security Organization continued: “It is thought that if the parliament makes such a decision, it must have had the foresight to give this credit to the insurance organizations so that we can fulfill our obligations.”

He said that a share of the organization’s revenues will be allocated to treatment: the main part of the organization’s revenues will be spent on pensions and part will go to the field of treatment, which was about 53 thousand billion tomans last year. Usually, more than 45,000 billion tomans of the deputy director’s budget is spent on medical affairs and the rest is spent on infrastructure development.

Ghaffari stressed that from an expert point of view, without the support of the government, it is not possible to implement the decision to change the currency system of the drug, but with the fulfillment of the government’s commitment in this regard, the drug franchise will not change significantly.
